Well, i looked at the most recent screenshots of halo2. If you read my other topic about wether halo2 will be in 720 or not, i got it answered, and according to the FAQ, it will only support 480p. But, if anyone has seen a 720 resolution game (Soul caliber 2 is 720, and it looks incredible) on HDTV or computer monitor, you know what it looks like. And those recent screenshots look like they are in 720 regardless of bungie saying halo2 will only support 480p. Either the FAQ is wrong in that area, or bungie has some super crazy awesome screen that they play halo2 on which makes it look super awesome.

Or, the other possibility is that it looks awesome anyway.

Frankie has explained that the way those screens are taken causes them to be higher resolution than normal. To this point, halo 2 does not support 720p.

It wont look like that on a regular television im sure, as regular televisions just arent capable of that kind of quality. And if you have ever seen a 480p game on hdtv or on a computer monitor it doesnt look that good either.

Thanks for ruining the optimistic moment. I promise it won't happen again for another decade.

Unfortunately, Bungie is pushing the Xbox to its limits already. If I were you I'd be more worried that they might remove the higher resolution at the last moment to gain a few more clock cycles.

Don't worry. Halo 3 won't have any of those problems. The Xbox2 is just too marvellous to even dream of...

The fact of the matter is that Bungie takes their screenshots straight from the XBox- not from the television screen. That way, there's less need for compression, so they can get nicer shots.

And, at 480, the game is still gorgeous.

Look, all im sayin is, they arent doing what they could by bumping it up to 720, i mean, thats for hdtv owners too, not just ppl like me who use a switchbox to play halo on their pc monitors. Theres lots of games out there, that are prety good, that have 720 resolution, and they look incredible. Heck, a couple even have 1080. I just think that if they put halo2 in 720 or higher, it would bump the quality up a few notches.

It depends if they have the time I guess.
