Still, i like the effect of the shellshocked marine, and the wounded that were lying around in Halo 1 and the Mombasa trailer. It added to the moment, whereas now you just get eager to kill, happy-go-lucky marines.

To me, it seems like what people would really want is something like a more random A.I. In the games they always say pretty much the same things at the same relative points in the story. I think it would be cool if you are fighting with some Marines at some point in the game and they will have like thousands of different lines to speak. So as every time you play through campaign, you hear something new.

The problem with that is voice acting takes up ALOT of space in a game. You wonder why so many handheld games dont have voices? Its becuase it takes up way to much of the games power and would take away from the game. Think of how much the game would lose if there were thousands of audio files stored? I mean a mere 500 songs takes up around 512 MB, audio files would be no different.

Yes, but we're not talking about any handheld game. This is the Xbox 360. By what factor has processor power been multiplied by since the first Xbox. Aren't we going from a 700-something Meg processor to a triple-3.2 gig processor. Didn't Xbox say they now have like a teraflop of processsing power, whatever that means. One could only imagine what is now possible.

Still, audio takes up alot of the space in a game. You cant deny that. Having 1000 lines for the marines, coupled with all the soundtracks, gun sounds, footseps, environment reactions, etc. You would be looking at well over 2 GiG's of sound files. That is alot.

I am...whimsical today.

It'd kinda depend on the situation on Earth. If there was some kind of organized resistance then I'd want the marines to be 'happier' than if you just found random pockets of them hiding from the Covenant. Possibly some would be almost resentful or fearful of you, as you'd be brining the Covenant to their position, when they just want the endless fighting to stop...
