I hope that i am not the only one who thinks that any more than 16-20 players online at once is a bad idea. i think many of the people trying to push for 32 or w/e players really haven't put enough time thinking about what would happen if they did allow more than 16 players. now assuming that the matchmaking system instituted in halo 2 remains, and hopefully somewhat tweaked, how long are you willing to wait unti 32 players have joined into the lobby. i mean are we totaly serious about that, waiting for 32 players, you could be waiting all day. and the map size would have to be increased heavily, thus taking away from the fast paced fps that was halo 1 and semi-fast paced play of halo 2. so what i suggest is that the max player amount remains to under 20, and that people wanting 32 plus players really put a lot more thought into what actually may happen if their wish came true.

i agree that more than sixteen could be fun, ie 20 or 24. however i feel that anything above those numbers would be ridiculous.

They should just leave the amount of players the way it is.

People there was a game that had 32 players online for the Xbox, seemed to work perfectly to me. Bungie will find a way so dont hold your breath for 16 players max. I'm sure it will allow more. Bungie shall find a way they always do.

but then again ima BtB junkie

Just because it's a option doesn't mean it has to be in matchmaking. I for one would love to see 32 just because the lan parties would be -blam!- crazy! But even if we only get 20 people in a game that would be cool too.

Look the thing is if perfect dark zero can have 32 players then why shouldn't halo 3 have it?
Another thing is if they have 32 players they can have a few matchmaking playlists for that amount of players and the rest for 16 players. That would be an easy comprimise.
Plus if battlefield 2:modren combat for xbox have 24 players without any lag. I think we can make things work out.

I would not want more than 16 players. This is not Perfect Dark or even Battlefield 2. This is Halo. Each game features a different style of play. You cannot compare games to the style of gameplay is different. Also did anyone forget about lagging??? alot of games loose connection unlike Halo. Even COD2 which is only up to 8 player the connection fails. BF2 the connection fails. PD the conection might be laggy. The point is Halo 1 and 2 were fine with 16 players- do you guys really want to change a good thing???

I agree...no more than 16 should be allowed. When you get up to a large amount like 32, it becomes more about numbers and less about skill. I think 8 vs. 8 works fine if you like larger battles.....but again that's just me

Look at Battlefield 2 modern combat for the Xbox and 360. It's 32 players and I have no hard time, it takes 3 seconds for the room to be full, and everything is balanced.

Okay, lets say the maximum amount of players is 32. There could be a way to vote to start the match as it is, or the match will start after a certain amount of time.

You'd think so but it's not true. Socom tried shifting from 16 players to 32 for their third game and it sucked. I'd go into detail but there isn't enough allowed space per post to describe how bad it was in the game. Leave it at 16.

Thhats Socom. This is Halo. Two very different things. Bungie may not do the same things Socom did, and they might find a way to fix these "problems" Whatever they are......My friend has Socom 3 and he loves it.....

  • 07.14.2006 9:56 AM PDT

I would say there is a 90% chance it will stay at 16.

  • 07.14.2006 10:00 AM PDT

I say, evolve, and let the chips fall where they may.

24 would be just fine in my opinion, because sometimes 16 isn't enough for hectic games on larger maps like Waterworks or Coag. The extra eight players might help.

And remember - entering large MM games is optional. I would wait for 24 people, it's worth it.
