Find me a quote that states the "gravemind" controls the flood?
Find me a qoute and some reason to belive that "gravemind" can take over A.I. constructs?
I think that "gravemind" will be affected by the halos activation becuase he is quite a large and obviously intelegent lifeform. What do you think and could that be the reason he doesnt want halos activated?
---I've heard alot of claims about the gravemind and they all seem to make him out to be a little more powerfull than i belive. I dont know if he comtrols the flood. I want to know if anyone knows for sure. I dont belive he can control an A.i. construct, but i do think he could be manipulating either cortana with knowledge or using the "insane" penitant tangent. The last questions just speculation.---
If there were quotes along the lines of Cortana saying "That Gravemind, he can control the Flood!", then it would ruin the plot and leave nothing for you to think about afterwards.
Since Gravemind is known as a command brain form as the central consciousness of the Flood, it is assumed he likely has some degree of control over the Flood one way or the other. Notice in the Library, the Infection Forms do not attack you. Instead, they are rushing to Gravemind's aid(of which temporarily supressed by Enforcers) trying to stop Miranda and Johnson from securing the Index. While it is not literally shown or explained, the Flood does not attack the MC nor the Arbiter as Gravemind used them to find the Index. When MC failed to stop Truth in time, he became useless to the Flood as the relentless assault is renewed upon him with good timing.
Ever wonder why Penitent Tangent is "insane", as you put it? Yes, all Monitors of the Halos we've seen thus far are quite eccentric characters. Do all Monitors glow with a different aura, or are they normally blue yet Penitent Tangent's telltale crimson glow represent corruption? Here's your quote from Gravemind: "Now I shall talk, and you shall listen" as he brings up Penitent Tangent and the assimilated Regret. You know, ever seen a puppet show? It's kind of like that. The entities he speaks through may still be half-itself, half controlled by Gravemind. How Gravemind can use teleport-it can be for many reasons: He used Pentitent Tangent, he's half machine(there are reasons to believe that), the Forerunner that went into his creation probably has access to teleportation abilities, he tapped into the teleport grid(if so, why couldn't he use it to escape his internment earlier-which suggests he used Penitent Tangent), and so forth.
It was all over the level High Charity. Gravemind tapped into High Charity's system and used the P.A. What, did you think he used a really big megaphone?
At the end, his tentacle touches Cortana, which suggests he can interact with AIs to some degree, if not completely at his disposal. That, coupled with Cortana's sudden willingness to him as well as the trailer of Cortana mirroring Gravemind's tone and choice of words, storyboards and screen flickers of Cortana in agony, and Bungie repeatedly saying that Cortana is in the clutches of Gravemind and that the next move is certainly his...
Is that enough evidence for you? No quotes, but logical assumptions are good enough. If he was just a titanic mass of flesh that can talk, what role would he play?
