I think that there should be no real visible predators in Halo 3, but just some animals that don't get in the way of the gameplay.

But then again, we are talking about Earth 546 years in the future, the depletion of its' natural resources might have driven a lot of them into endangerment.

The species of animals could change depending on whether you are on earth, or a halo, or maybe a covenant homeworld. Different species different number of animals.

i also thinck it would be a neat idea make you feel more into the game jsut not big creatures some birds fly over head fish swim in the creeks bugs crawl on the walls you no the small creatures that dont affect anytihng more then visual affects :). allthougth since where going to be in africa why not some elephants and stuff i mena hell whe get bored of killing coveys every 1s in awhile why not go on a wild animal hunt and kill some elephants lol.

I know people would think that having civilians and animals would be cool. But they would just be there for eye candy.

Think of it this way, was Halo CE and Halo 2 less immersive becuase there were no cats and dogs and people running around? Not really. And for every one of those creatures/civilians you put on screen, that is 1 less covenant for you to kill. Imagine making that mob of scared pedestrians into a horde of covenant trying to kill you? I would say that would be more fun.

I am...whimsical today.

I think it would be interesting, and would depend on their level of involvement. Ambient stuff, like the dragonfly thingies in on Delta Halo. More developed stuff, like a pack of wildebeest. Or plain out enemies, like crocodiles and lions. It could also ad new tactics, scaring a heard of animals stampeding toward a Covenant outpost with some well placed grenades.

wildlife and civilians. it would make the game more realistic

I totally agree. There's people who say that civilians would be a nuiscence and ruin the game but then how about civilian dead bodies lying around that would be realistic with out hurting the gameplay of the game. Also there's people who say that there would not be any big animals alive in levels because the covenant would and do kill them, I don't think the covenant really care about killing any big major animals since they need to eat aswell as the humans; so there could be biggish animals such as dinosaurs in ring levels if there will be any with the Arbiter. Then there's the little animals such as birds, fish, cats, dogs, and ect. There will deffinetly be birds and fish but what about cats, dogs, cattle, sheep, ducks, chooks, geese, turkeys and so on, surely there could be some of these animals in Halo3 to make it more fun to play. Also there would be lots of farming on Earth considering before the covenant attacked Earth, it was overpopulated meaning there would need to be lots of food to feed all the people so there would be lots of cattle, sheep, paultry farms still standing. In some of the MC's levels you would think he would run into some farms; I am very sure that the covenant have not glassed Earth. Please post some thoughts if you think there is something wrong with my case.

NO.. it would of made farming a more needed thing which includes wildlife park/reserve habitats also being more needed so they wouldn't of all been driven into endangerment because of the breeding and farming programs which would be more full proof because of the advanced technology. This also means that eventually with MC being in the desert he might run into a animal breeding African national park.. lol only joking about the African national park thing.

Ok, maybe civilians, but we really dont need animals. At least civilians can add to the mood of a hopeless situation. Seeing cat get shot by an elite wouldnt really make anyone cry except tree huggers. But not too many tree huggers play halo now do they?

Yes, I soppose you're right about not too many tree huggers playing Halo.
About we not really needing animals, mabye just a couple types of animals nothing big so it can add to the mood of the game. Civilians, there don't need to be much but if there are some in Halo3 I'll be happy because that also will add to the sad mood feel of the game of which bungie said Halo3 is going to show the dark side of war, so well see covenant killing civilians probably.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
Teach a man religion, and he will starve to death praying for a fish.

or how about people just walking around in the streets or in thier houses.
u bust into a house and -bam!- u mess up their christmas dinner!
*Door shatters into splinters* "Sorry, ma'am, but I need to check the area for Covenant stragglers! And while you're at it, get in the kitchen and make me some pie!"

Yes, but there is a problem:

The game takes place on Earth. A lot of it is Earth-side.

Then again, 500+ years in the future, so maybe there will be some new species. Although, IMHO, the human race probably won't last 500 years...

there is not point in saying hey i got a 40- HIGH RANK MEANS NOTHING, it means you either bridged host or cheated...and the skillfull player like myself have 27s cause of cheating.

It would be hilarious if you could pick up a grunt with the chief and throw him into a river or lake with a ton of alligators and watch him get ripped to pieces and yelling in that funny grunt voice, that would be funny.
