I choose Celcius, becoause the whole world uses it, but not America. It's also easier to memorize boiling and freezing in Celcius than Farenheit. The same reason (the rest of the world uses it) is why I want the U.S. to use Metric measurements too (the debate for that has been going on at least since the 1970s.)

The reason why the US does'nt convert to the metric system, is cause they're too lazy. Think about it, how many roads, with how many speed signs, with how many distance signs do they have?

Imagine how long that'd take

And then, you'd have to get all the cars speedo's modified for km/h instead of m/h

It'd cost heaps.

kelvin is a temp. measuring system for EXTREMELY cold temp. 0* k is absolute zero, everything, including oxygen and other gasses, would emediately freeze into a solid. Metric is also easier to compute since everything is measured by 10 or 100 or 1000 etc.

You neglect to mention that Kelvin is also constant. Fahrenheit and Celsius change depending on the circumstances. You really need to do A-Level Physics to understand why.

Yeah, since everyone else uses it then I guess we should too.

*ahem*

bah

Kelvin is an absolute system, with 0°K based on no heat at all. Unlike Fahrenheit and Celsius where you can go below zero, Kelvin has no negative temperatures. This makes doing calculations extremely easy. As it is, when doing any problem involving gasses, you have to convert to Kelvin first, do the problem, then convert back. The increments on Kelvin are the same as Celsius, meaning you only have to add or subtract the standard 273.2° to convert between Kelvin and Celsius.

Unlike the other two, 0°K means no heat. We have never reached this temperature, and there are really good scientific reasons we never will. It's like the speed of light, we cannot ever reach it.

I measure temperature in Rankine.

celsius, i never understood why the us won't accept the metric system and fahrenheit? and why UK and New Zealand won't change to driving in the right side? does somebody know?

Simple -would you rather go 60 MPH or 60 KPH?

Imperial all the way!

I measure temperature in: Freezing, cold, ljummet, warm, boiling
It must be the easiest system ever.

Seriously, though, ceslius and metric system is infintly better than farhenheit and fett and whatever you use.

But the best is Kelvin for temerature and lightyéars (or piko lightyears...) for absolute measurements.

Metres are fine because of how they were defined. In fact, they're perfect (and lightyears are based on metres anyway). Time is another matter though.

If you changed 60 MPH to KPH it would be 100 KPH you dumbhead

i believe the US has tried to convert to metric in the past. and failed horribly. so if anything, it's not just that we're lazy, but that we're lazy and stupid. hell, if we'd been using the metric system all this time, i'd have saved a couple thousand dollars in tools.

Farenheit sucks.
The Americans just use it 'cause they always gotta be different....just like everyone else.

Nice contradiction. ;-)
Anyway, I myself would prefer Celsius over Fahrenheit, because its much simpler, and its easy to convert into Kelvin, like goweb said.
