WHen i used to play co-op or single player on halo 2, i saw that the phantom wasn't that large. how about that instead of the pelican? because i agree that the pelican is too large

You should of made up your own instrument. You could have named it the PolarLighting -a-phone. People would buy it and they would all be like "Awh, He's so cool for inventing the PolarLighting-a-phone."

I think we should have a game mode that is like BF2 and have these HUGE ASS maps where like you could use pelicans and phantoms.

I think that those should be the only condions under which we should be able to do that. And at that point the maps would be too large for enjoyable gameplay, or have too many players for organized gameplay. It would bring up communication issues.

organized? to big for FUN?! maps that big would be perfect for anything( especially snipers) & w/ 360 we should be able to have like 20v20 matches, so its not like you wont find anyone, it would make great for all types of players, & they wouldnt even seem so big when you fly over it at 80 mph in a pelican, phantom, ghost, or whatever, what do you mean big battles arent fun, play age of empires & see how enjoyable it is.

Well, think about trying to communicate with one team mate when there are 18 other people out there ramblin about whatever it is that they are trying to do. At that point it would be really difficutlt for large teams to communicate. Also, if a map is that rediculously big the gameplay speed would slow down by a lot. think about it, what's faster? 4v4 on lockout? Or 4v4 on Coag? Coag really isn't fun when all the vehicles are temporarily blown up/stolen by the other team and there is a good sniper out there.

I think you should be able to drive it in multiplayer, but only ride in it in campaign. It strays from the formula too much if you had to drive passengers places there, and who would want to use it as an escape vehicle...2 big and 2 slow. But multiplayer would be great for it

there is not point in saying hey i got a 40- HIGH RANK MEANS NOTHING, it means you either bridged host or cheated...and the skillfull player like myself have 27s cause of cheating.

Imagine this, Your riding as a passenger in a pelican and for a second you get out of your seat to go to the front of the cockpit to look out of the front window. Just as you enter the cockpit a sniper bullet comes flying through the window and nails the pilot right in the head. The Pelican starts in to a nose dives and lands crashing and sliding through the ground creating a large trench as it does. After a few seconds all of the players jump out of the back and have to fight through the enemy because they land at their base. How sweet would that be.

Basically all I'm saying is that the pelican would not be too bad if they could put it on a big map, it would fly slow, and you could snipe the pilot which would cause the whole pelican to go down.

Even though I said all that up there I think it's a bad idea, like mentioned before, bigger maps, more people, more lag.

For Campaign:

The Pelicans could make effective bombers; simply look at the weapon pods.

Another thing, how do the Pelicans carry those pods and Warthogs? Magnets?

"Thoughts are the shadows of feelings; always darker, emptier, and simpler."

That is just my point. ^^^

If its fun in BF2 then it should be fun in Halo.
But only Pelicans. Phantoms have too much armor.

You sure? I don't think hooks could carry a Scorpion tank, nor do I actually see any hooks or prongs sticking out of the back of the Pelican.

Idea! You cant enter the pelicn from outside, you have to go on the inside to the pilot seat. And instead of, press X o ride in Pelican, you just walk into the back. This would also make funny little moments.

Pelican is on ground ready to take off.
*marine rides in on warthog*
"im coming"
*marine manages to fit warthog into back of pelican"
"yes!"

Now where would the fun be in riding in a pelican? Maybe in co-op, some people could ride, while one drives. I think the pelican should be driveable in campaign, where you have to drive far, on big maps, and in matchmaking, If there are huge maps, it should be there, which is highly unlikely, but I dont think bungie will make huge maps. So my opinion lies with the pelican being driveable in campaign.

If the pelican is not driveable ever, I think you should at least be able to walk inside it instead of having an invisible wall in the way during campaign.

I think Halo should be kept Halo.. It's not Battlefield. If you say "Let's have <this> because it's like <this game>!" why not go play said game?!

Polar and Mission have good viewpoints.. :)

Because siad game doesnt have the great community that halo has.

I think there should be only 2 maps with pelicans and phantoms, one should be on earth and it should be a huge city map with 2 small bridges across a narrow river, one of them must be hard to get over, and the other must be hard to get to( like you have to go underground in these tunnels and go around obstacles) So that you are almost forced to take the pelicans and phantoms. There should be two types of each at each base ( the coenant one should be on top of a low building hat can be acessed by a elevator and it has a dropship ( 10 people no guns) and a phantom( 5 people) 2 guns(four would make it unbalanced) and the human one, on an eleated higway with barriers and stuff, with two pelicans, one can carry any vehichle and 3 people ( gunner passanger pilot) and the other one carries 7 people with one large turret.
The next one should be on halo, sort of like a massive sidewinder. Since it will be so large walking will be unpractical so we look to the skies. Both bases should be relitavely the same, with a large and complex tower at the center with several gun positions and lots of little rooms and hallways and decks and stairs hanging off the side, at the top is an overshield and a sword.

One thing to take into account. With every good thing comes someone to criticize it.

And by that I mean, take, say the Energy Sword for instance. Everyone loves using it! It's the coolest weapon, untill someone uses it one you, you hate it, it's the worst thing ever.

No one will ever truly like it if you think about it. You love using the Pelican, it's cool, no one can stop you. untill someone uses it on you, you're going to complain, write to Bungie and be all in a hissy-fit.

And, if everyone would take the time to read my post on the first page somwhere, that would save me the trouble of writing the same opinion over and over again. But to recap.

A map that would neccesitate in a Pelican would be to big, just too big. I definetly wouldn't like playing with about 40 other people, or 39 including me. There would be this incomprehensible splatter of talking to each other, the map would just be to unruly.

Bungie made it so that you get a sense of this kind of. You can see on maps like Lockout exactly what is going on !! And then they made Big Team, where you have an idea of what is going on, so it makes it kind of like a real battle. But having a map with like actually 80 people cause you would need a fleet of Pelicans, would be Star Wars BattleFront, or like what SS Zag said, why not play <said game> instead of Halo, at least I think it was Zag.

Anyway, if they turned it into , Halo-BattleFront, THEN a Pelican would be preety sweet.

They should make a new gametype (species slayer) where you are on a map that is around 4 Game Miles wide and 6 Game Miles long and one team is Elites so they get a phantom and banshees and the other team is Spartans so they get pelicans and longswords. Imagine taking off from an island and battling it out in mid air or using the Pelican to infiltrate enemy airspace. That would own.

I'd rather have Bungie do something worth while, rather then making a map that is six by four miles long.

And Titan, please type right and not in Caps lock, you just broke like, fifty online rules, like, um......, typing in all caps, and, um.............., not using punctuation.

are you kiddin me, the maps in halo 3 are 40 times the size of halo 2. So even the scarrab wouldn't be too big for halo 3, so I think the pelican should be in halo 3.

There should definitely be sequences in the H3 campaign where you're in a pelican and shooting at enemies, I missed that from the first game. As for multiplayer, I think it would only work if there was a Death Island-sized map in the game, which seems unlikely. I think maybe in order to balance it they should make designated drop-off and pickup zones and make it so that the pelican can only land there, otherwise players could just have an entire team load up into a pelican and drop them off at the enemy base, no questions asked. Of course, perhaps they could balance that by making it really slow for passengers to disembark, making them vulnerable.

And the proof of this claim is.....? Wow, you really are a moron.

But aside form that, Halo's maps have a uniqueness to them. They are in their own little world, which is cool, every map has a distinct feeling and going on about it that makes it cool. A map that would be about 40 times [which there is no proof] of Coag, would just delete everything about the maps, when I say "own little world" I don't really mean a whole world.

how bout a smaller pelican with 4 passengers, 1 pilot, and a turrent guy... with two machine guns on the wings that the pilot can shoot and about the speed of a banshee but a little faster. it can be taken out with two rockets just like the tanks. sniper bullets shoot the pilot blah blah blah all the rest of that crap. FOR MULTIPLAYER!!!
