a good idea though, it will discourage some from doing something like that, not all, but some

Hey! I just joined. Why would I post anything bad like that? I find it annoying that I have to wait 24 hours to make new... whatever they're called, 'cause I have some inquiries.

Now that I think about it (and checked) the Nintendo message boards have a limit of three days before new users can post in 'normal' forums. They've set up a separate forum for the new users so one could "learn the rules" then after that three day limit they're allowed to post in any forum. That seems to work out well enough for them, But I still have my doubts that such an act of any kind would ever work here a B-net.

That's always been there. However, that is for new threads. They can still post, which is what Smoking is getting at.

I quit making serious threads. They usually become flame fests.

I do agree with the Nintendo threads idea. That way users could learn the rules gradually so that old users like you and me don't have to shove it down their throat.

I would guess that Halo players and forum goers are a little more ruthless than Nintendo players and forum goers.

Note the doubt there. But what if Nintendo forum goers are more ruthless than some of those around here because of that rule. Think about it, People who would create a spam account around here normally act on an impulse, they see a thread they don't like or get riled in some way so they make a spam account and spam, all within a few minuets. Nintendos way would make them stop and think for three days, which many people should do anyway.

Also, The forum would let the new members get used the set up with posting, Markup tags, quoting, what-have-you. It would also give them a place to ask the questions that've been asked thousands of times before by new members, like "How to make a group" or "what does this do..." without it turning into a flame-fest. They would have time to learn the rules as well as the different meanings for the forums, among other things.

But then there is still the doubt.
