Anyone else remember the whole "Finish all the fights you started in Halo: CE" thing? The MC and Arby have a bit of a grudge between eachother, and I think the Chief can take him.

I think at the end the Arbiter will become the new leader of the Convent but it will change names becuase they will be ashamed of that name. Also I think that they will that MC and Arbiter will fight side by side then at the end they will go there own ways.

The MC basically made Halo.. Why would you want a silly alien in ancient armor to survive, when his looks alone are reason enough for him to be shot?

Because that "silly alien in ancient armour" has more friggen story line that MC. He is a much deeper character than MC ever will have.

Here are the storylines summed up in two lines.

MC = Simple minded people who like to shoot things smaller and less scary than him.

Arbiter = People who like a good, deep story. Who like fighting things which will present a challange and would like the game to be more than just a "ha ha. grunt go bye bye. ha ha"

Actually The Arbiter did indeed have a little more depth but he didn't have enough of a storyline or history to back it up you also probaly haven't read the books have you Maser Chief Is actually an increadibly deep and mysterious character. don't you realize he almost never speaks or questions authority but at the same time he will fight for what he believes is the greater good.

i agree with the poseter of the thread. the arbiter is a very tragic character. death would be redeeming for him as was said.

Ya, arbiter is a better charecter story wise. He is very dynamic, many things have happened to him, Master Chief barely talks. The Arbiter is cool. There I said it. He intruduced the Sword to us, The new Banshee in a way, Active Cam o(why the Hell would you choose a flashlight over a camo generator).

I like both charecters. I still think Arbiter had good missions. Quarentine Zone is rather fun. and quite large.

While i agree that the arbiter is deep, the master chief is much deeper then the game lets on. Hes a hero with his back to the wall who has to fight for his race and for the survival of himself and his friends. As one of the developers said in the bonus dvd, his story is "one of salvation" We can all realte becuase we all deal with events everyday that we dont know how to deal with. So please dont say the MC is not a deep character.

I like the Arbiter more than the average halo player, I think. Sure, Bungie sort've pulled a Raiden on us, but it wasn't as big of a surprise because we were already used to the idea of playing as an elite in multiplayer. Anyways, it doesn't matter to me if he dies or not as long as it's not in the first five seconds of the game or anything.

He is deep. But his charecter development wasn't what you called good.

Probably. I want a flashback of the Arbiters past too. So we get to know him better. HE had good development as a dynamic charecter. But we don't know his history unlike the Master Chiefs. People will like him better if we give backround on him.

How many elites has the Master Chief killed? I'm pretty sure the Master Chief could take him.

I guess. But seeing as how you, the player have to get him trhrough the game, no other Elite would pass through the caimpaign. So his skill must be high. He was a Fleet Master, a rank that hign means he has to be pretty tough.

But why would the MC and Arbiter fight anyway? The galaxy is at stake here.

i believe that bungie introduced us the arbiter to break a little the "one man show" of Master Chief.they also put him in the game because he was a reason to let the covenant religion and hierarchy be known.as for the deaths i believe that if master chief was killed it would be more dramatic.and a bit cliche too.ya know the lone hero who dies...soi.but it would be more suitable for arbiter to die indeed

We do, this just isn't funny.

I'd rather have the Arbiter die and already have thought of it than have a twist.. Halo is about the MC, not a silly elite.

Halo was all about the Master Chief.
Halo 2 was all about Master Chief and the Arbiter
Halo 3 will be about..... ??????????

I want the Chief to live. We actually care about the Chief. He's our last hope, and he's just likeable. The Arbiter is just sort of another guy we have to play as.
I care about them both, and I am not alone. Stop Elite hating.

well i wouldnt be suprised if everyone liked the arbitor in halo3.... i think he was a good character to play in halo2 he dosent bother me it was a differant experience

  • 07.15.2006 5:45 PM PDT

I understand that Bungie needed the Arbiter in order to more easily explain the plot of the beginning of the civil war within the Covenant. If it had been just the Chief then it would've been impossible to get across a main part of the story and would've left players wondering what the hell was going on. All the same, I never really wanted to play as an Elite and that still hasn't changed. If they could 'remove' the Arbiter completely or as soon as possible it would make me happier. But if they need him to continue to make sure the plot is understandable then I suppose i would be willing to put up with it.

Alright halo fans. What is the meaning of the Halo game series? Following one Spartan as he attempts the impossible? Or the salvation of the Human race from an assured termination? The MC is definatley a main character and is totally kick-ass.But to me, my favourite character in the Halo series is Sgt.Johnson by far. He is so cool, has those nifty zingers and never panics. And not to mention, he survived the flood AND escaped SINGLE-HANDEDLY from them WITHOUT MJOLNIR armor to help him! He is totally awesome. But when it comes to saying that the arbiter should just die in the third game, your clearly not thinking about the survival of the human race, but thinking about the precious MC being the coolest character in the game. Think of what would happen if the arbiter just died early. 1) Sgt.Johnson and Miranda would have questionable fates, the alliance between the Elites(their allies) and the humans would be compromised. and the human race would be terminated by Truth activating the Ark. Clearly if you read the bungie FAQ about the Halo3 Announcement Trailer, you would have seen the question ("So where exactly are all the human ships in the trailer") or something like that. And bungie replies, they were wiped out or distracted by delta halo or along those lines. It is definatley clear that the Human Fleet cannot withstand the inevitable covenant onslaught that will hit them. So who comes to their aid? The MC with his assault rifle somehow makes a weapon from a destroyed scorpion that destroy's all covenant ships? Or he heroically and unlikley destroys all the attacking covenant ships? I think not. The Arbitor, his army, and Sgt.Johnson and Miranda, who will be needed to show the remaining Humans that there is an alliance. The MC will not make a large fleet out of thin air to destroy the attackers. The arbitor and his army will be needed if the human race is to survive this threat of total extinction. And yes, the MC will get to stop the Ark from being activated in a heroic fashion. The MC will have his glory in Halo3, maybe not as heroic as the arbitor, but the arbitor is key to the survival of the remaining human forces.

P.S If i were to guess at Halo3, Sgt.Johnson was left with some kick-ass regenerating powers left when the flood attempted to infested his mind, and becomes an ultra cool soldier (saying that he wasn't already i'm not cause he sure hella is!) and goes on a rampage being a huge icon on the Human behalf. One big Hoorah for Sarge, you've got to give it to him, he's been through hell and is one kick-ass marine, more than what the UNSC could ever have expected from a Marine like Johnson.

I was in the same boat as everyone else who hates the Elites. When the first Arbiter level began, I didn't kill any Elites, I was trying to sneak up behind the two that you start with. They suddenly turned around and I stopped and in panic I whipped out the plasma rifle. I wondered why they didn't attack me. Then I saw my hands. I was in disbelief and anger. I have since changed my position, I love the Arbiter, and he rocks. I however do not understand why those who hate Elites/The Arbiter go about the forums raising hell and complaining to Bungie about it. They do that while we the people who love the Elites don't go prancing about the forum touting it. I have since lost my respect for Elite haters, they all seem the same. I apologize for the stereotype to you actual respectable Elite haters.
