The book "The Fall of Reach" said Cortana had a 7 year life-span, which is just about over. She can't DIE but she maybe goin' away...boo-hoo...
This may no longer apply because she is now integrated with a mortal being who has very a long life span.

Thats true Lone Heritic. and i dont think they are going to make cortana run out of juice just because AI is supposed to last only seven years. its the last game they will keep her.
We shall not know until the game comes out; but I am with you, I don't think she will be leaving us anytime soon.

Yeah, it's possible. Maybe it would be far more subtle but equally powerful to have Cortana be the main character who dies. After all she's always been there with us, warning us about dangers ahead, giving us intel on whats going on, helping to keep us safe. Her death could be equally shattering as the death of any of the others, as we lose the one thing that remained constant throught Halo 1 + 2.
From what I can remember, she was not there when I would have wanted her most. Remember The Library? Guilty Spark? Yeah, she was so busy helping us that she forgot she was supposed to be with us.

This is probably due to some clever story writing. We have Cortana looking out for us all the up to AotCR. Then Cortana mentions an enemy the Covenant are afraid of, and she tells us to go there. So, we end up in a swamp. Alone. In the mists. Fight our way to a structure. We go down into it. See mangled bodies and blood. We're alone. We enter the room and watch the video. We're now alone left to fight new enemy that appears to be zombie like. Its the ultimate way to try and make it scarier by removing the constant companion you've had everywhere so far and leaving you on you're own just as really weird stuff starts happening.
I know, I was just bustin' yo baullz'. You are all seemingly intelligent people to discuss things with; I feel spoiled that rare people like you guys are on these forums.

Indeed... Intelligent people are a rare find here.. And I would've liked to have Cortana with me on the Library.. *shivers*

Doesn't happen very often does it? Sad. It might be because there are a ton of new members pouring in that don't know the ropes.

I might drop by; I am a little stretched as it is though. I am becoming known on these forums as the group guy because I help people set up their groups. I got about three groups going now, one of them is my own. We will see.

I agree!! I doesnt bother me if I never see the arbiter again. I think we spent too much time playing as him in H2 I just want to be the chief. I don't need the aliens point of view. they tried to kill me thats all I need to know.

  • 07.15.2006 7:57 PM PDT

You say you don't need the aliens point of view. If you didn't have it, wouldn't you be wandering what the hell was going on when Covenant members started shooting at each other for no apparent reason? If you could think of a way to make the events understandable without another point of view then suggest it.

The MC basically made Halo.. Why would you want a silly alien in ancient armor to survive, when his looks alone are reason enough for him to be shot?

Because that "silly alien in ancient armour" has more friggen story line that MC. He is a much deeper character than MC ever will have.

Here are the storylines summed up in two lines.

MC = Simple minded people who like to shoot things smaller and less scary than him.

Arbiter = People who like a good, deep story. Who like fighting things which will present a challange and would like the game to be more than just a "ha ha. grunt go bye bye. ha ha"

Okay, but i think the oringinal halo did just fine without that -blam!-y arbiter, i agree the arbiter must die, but not heroicly, slow and painfully, and who better 2 commint the crime than the Master Cheif himself.

Gentlemen, our intelligent discussion has ended. I also saw this post before it was edited. Apperantly he felt he had to "dumb it down" for us.

I think it would be awsome, I don't hate the arbiter but it would give him such a good rep. He shouldn't just die he should go on a mission were he knows it would be imposible or something were there is no way to get out. Just incase nobody here knows this because I didn't feel like reading all of the posts, but the arbiter has a son and the Arbiter's son should see him die just for dramatic quality.

I would accuse you of being a troll with a new account, but there are a lot of people like you on these forums.

We have you surrounded... at least from this side.

How about the arbiter goes off and does his own thing and instead of playing as the arbiter you can play asss .... A GRUNT

imagine all the cool things he could do like run around screaming with his arms in the air and when he falls he could go wheeeeee!!!

If the Arbiter has to die it should be slow
For example Arbiter and a few elites are
running through a flood infested ship
all the elites die but then arby get attacked by
the little flood things that killed the prophet
The arbiter slowly turns into flood
and you have to fight like that till finaly you get shot down by master chief
and a group a marines

Why did you write your post in the form of a poem? The Arbiter might die. I have always thought he or the MC would die saving one another. I had always thought it would be the Chief, though.

look whether you like it or not the master chief is not dying soon, he is the Halo protagonist and he's going to retire and live to a ripe old age.

Here are my views
Now i dont hate the arbitor but i didnt really like him untill the end either. What i always thought woul give me a great sesnse of closure and just an ending that would be tradgic but good in a sense is that Chief dies, not the arbitor. The reason why it I think it would be such a great ending is because Chief is the last of his kind(Im not counting books, only the game story), and to die protecting humanity just like all his friends would seem like a fitting end. Also i would love to see The arbitor leading a huge Rebel Convenent Militia against the Fanatical Prophet of truths army. It would be cool to play in a war so vast with covenant dieing all around you, Like the american civil war
