My theory is that the prophet of truth REALLY knows what Halo does. I thin hes planning to activate the halos not for the great journey, but to destroy all life forms in the universe and he will start a new the universe a new and rule it all. think about it, why would he get abored the forerunner ship BEFORE halo is activated? This also supported the theory that the ark is a safe spot if the halo's are activated so he can servive and maybe he has some DNA of the species and can rebuiled it as king. He gets on the Foreunner ship's hides in the ark while he activates the halos and kill everyone and reins as king. So it the master chiefs job to stop him.

Constructive critizisim only please

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

Seems likely, but I think the Ark actually has some sort of shield that blocks the EMP-esque force the Halo's emit..

hmm interesting. Although the prophet is not necessarily on his way to the ark hes on his way to earth ( which is probably the ark but still) And he does not know that the halo was deactivated and he must remote activate the halos from the ark. I think only the Arbiter Johnson and Keyes are aware of that. He might have been informed that the ring was deactivated but still why, why was he on his way to earth? To uncover whatever is in the halo 3 trailer. But mabye he doesnt know what the rings do because would he not have been killed befor he could make it to the ark even if it is on earth and it is a safe spot? Is earth not in that installations blast radius?

I also have always felt that he is definately up to something. He is hiding something from the covenant or theres just some crucial info that we are not yet aware of. Why does he let the other prophet die like that? and in conversations from the universe book, there is trouble between the prophets already. Or mabye he is just blind like all the religous leaders today. No offence to anybodys religion i just feel that many are so similar and none can prove to be the right one yet all of them are sort of right at the same time. But there are some who are just so brainwashed that they will war in the name of their God because they think theirs is right and the others is wrong. They are so brainwashed and hard headed and ignorant. The prophet of truth can just be another 1 of those people

What i wana know is why does the covenant think the activation of the halos will start the great journey? What info do they have about the forerunner and the halos? What do they think the halos are going to do? open the portal to heaven?

I think the Heretic is right and the prophets are lieing or definately up to something. They cant be so stupid. First of all, how did the heretic get his info about the great journey being false. And he even says to the arbiter somethin like "what happened to these great forerunner creatures? transcended(sp?) hah hardly. Come Arbiter, let me show you where they went."
How does the heretic know this stuff?

if you watch the bonus DVD it shows a deleted cutscene where the prophet of truth hows the arbirter some stone tables that they found and it explains the great journey. the herectic leader learned all of his information from 343 Guilty Spark. Another thing that I thought about was why the prophet of truth ordered tartarus to kill the arbirter. i think that the prophet of truth knew that the arbiter had learned th truth f the great journey and odered him to be killed so he couldnt jeordize the prophits mission.

ah thats right i forgot he was with 343 guilty spark. So than the monitor must have told him that the forerunner died and all that. And also i forgot bout that cutscene from the dvd. Im gona go watch it again right now.

And like you said why would they have the arbiter killed. He knows too much? Seems like the only explanation. And does tartarus just really believe in all that prophecy or is he in on the scam too? And whats with him being like a super brute? And what happened to the pentient tangent monitor. How did he get taken by gravemind? Why is gravemind even on that installation? Will tartarus be taken by gravemind too? Why are there so many questions left unanswered?

Is halo sick or what?

"Your destruction is the will of the gods...and we are their instrument."

OH MY GOD! YOU'RE RIGHT! What if Earth is the Arc? That would explain why Truth didn't think humans were there, he thought it was the Arc and not the human home world. And that would explain the giant structure coming up from the ground. I think it would be a huuuuuge twist if human's ancestors were the Forerunners.
Commenting on the other topic. In the Bible, the Arc was used for housing all the survivors from the great..........flood...........HOLY CRAP!

Um, and how would he go about surviving the Halos' detonation? I don't think that's proof enough to say "It's probably safe."

"Your destruction is the will of the gods...and we are their instrument."

Well, like I was using the bible reference before, the arc was used to house the survivors from the flood(coinsidence? I think not), so I'm guessing it's not affected by the radius of the halos' blast.

well, ignoring those questions about gravemind and all i'm going to go back to First Strike for some of these answers. in the last chapter of the book, the prophet of truth talks with tarturus and then recieves the shards of crystal from unyeilding hierophant. that covenant installation of unyeilding hierophant shows that the covenant DID know that humans were on earth. why else would they have the largest covenant capitol ships all line up and get battle ready if they were going to jump to a supposedly uninhabbited planet and find the ark. i'm guesing that they probably knew that the ark was somewhere on earth, otherwise they would have started glassing the planet. truth leaves in the forrunner ship in high charity to escape the flood, and probably to demolish earths defenses, as cortana says in that particular cut scene. the reason that Truth orders the arbiter to be killed is in part of the swaping brutes for elites in the covenants. Truth admires them and there's some quote that i can't remeber right now, also from First Srike, where truth thinks about how much better the brutes are then elites. this is also upheld in the coversations of the universe quotes.

granted, this is "well...duh!" kind of stuff, and i'm not looking very deep into this, but i don't think that there's much more to think about. the covenant, overall, are so immersed with their "religion" that i'm going to agree with the idea that they leave themselves to be brainwashed so into what they are told, that through the generations they become completely ignorant to what the halo's actually do.

yeah... not to get off track, but why IS tartarus so uber powerful in the end of the game? odds are it's that staff thing, but then in that case, what is the staff/why does he have it? brute technology maybe?

uhm....how does Truth 'rule' the universe if A) everyones dead by halo's, B) the flood haven't starved to death (how halo contains flood) unless truth can wait/live a crazy few millenia
