Too unorganized, ever play BF2? Can't get anyone to do sh** on that game. "Sqaud here are your coordinates!" but he takes off in the chopper the other way, awful.

Nothing larger than 3 times that of coag. If BF2:MC can do it, why not H3?

1) If you like BF2:MC so much, go play it.

2) Halo isn't, and wasn't meant for such large maps. The gameplay as we know it would be completely changed to do so. It'd probably be a lot less fun.

3) To make such large maps, one must cut down on graphics and detail.. If you want Halo 3 to look like BF2:MC... Eww.

1) BF2:MC is a horrible, very unbalanced game

2) Larger maps wouldnt kill halo, it would expand upon it. You dont have to play the large maps. But having larger maps would allow for more players, more expansive battles, and a wider range of vehicle possibilities. Im thinking a pelican wouldnt fit too well inside of coag. Its a little small for that.

3) If they said you would have those graphics (H3 graphics), with 14 miles of actually rendered stuff in the game (that is MUCH larger than 3 coags), then i dont think my idea would be a stress.

1) BF2:MC is a silly game, for the most part. I agree.

2) Larger maps.. More players, more lag. More vehicles, more chaos. No Teamwork. It's hard enough as it is getting people in a BTB match to work together well. Halo is all about great teamplay experiences.

3) The Xbox 360 would not be able to put forth the detail shown in the teaser trailer over a size 3 times larger than Coag. They would have to take out all the details that makes the Halo series great.

How much coordination is there in H2? I dont think there is a hell of alot there either. The only time you EVER see perfect team hormony is in a tournament, or if you happen to get a team of guys who have been playing with only each other and have been studying a map.

But seriously, no game with over 8 players a game has uncoordination among the teams. Especially when the teams are random like H2's.

At least in H2 you cant move to the winning team and make the game unfair just to move up your rank like in BF@:MC

[edit] We dont know how much the 360 can put out. There has only been about 12 games, and that is the 1st generation. Look at what original XB did from 1st generation to last generation. There was a huge difference.

You cant possibly think that the XB360 wont be able to have a 3 mile long map do you? Coag is hardly a mile. Maybe about 3/4 of one.

Have any of you played SOCOM 3? It'll be the same case if Halo 3 ever gets a bigger map. Vehicals are nice and all, but what if you're stuck on foot? How long would it to find someone to kill? And to think...if you only have an SMG and the other dude is spawning camping with a Sniper what would you do? Bunny Hop and hope he does't kill you?

It isnt that big a deal. One reason why a pelican would be nice. You have to think about it this way. There would be more vehicles on large maps, enough to accomidate all the players in the vehicles.

I got a question. Does anyone know what LAG is? That is when you have a 30 on 30 game and someone joins in with almost a dial-up connection.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

A gametype somewhat similar to what happened in the Halo novel. 16 vs 56 (one group elite, the other master chiefs). Last man standing wins. Master Chiefs have to defend the base, so the Elites can win by doing two things, killing everyone or destroying the base.

No snipers
Humans get a 2 rocketlauchers with only 2 rockets
2 tanks
2 MG Warthogs
2 Gauss Warthogs
2 Turrets
4 Wraiths
4 Ghosts
2 Spectres
2 Shadows (that work)
2 Banshees

I think that a version of New Mombasa with 64-132 people would be awesome, and there would be factions and stuff.
Speaking of Half-Life, it is possible for Bungie to create an engine efficient enough for such large maps and amount of players. Valve created an excellent engine that could make everything look good even on crap hardware. If Valve can do it, Bungie can do it.

Well... Battlefield has a horrible communications system. That attributes to things greatly. You can't be certain your communication is going to get to other players and there's no indication either way.

Normally when a tank is moving in the direction of a flag some of my comrades are defending I'll state it on the game channel three times... just in case, so that the defenders can hide and prepare a counter assault.

What I wouldn't mind using as a guideline was Star Wars: Battlefront. It seems to handle a large number of players simultaneously in addition to a good number of bots bringing the total up to 64. (The max I've ever seen)

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

I want balanced maps. I don't want a huge map that is impossible to find anyone in, but I don't want one so small that it's not fun. Scale according to number of players.

What? No Chiron?

  • 07.15.2006 3:48 PM PDT

yea, but if it's gonna be big, you r gonna need 24-36 players. Maybe 7 big maps, 8 medium sized, and 7 small arena ones such as Midship biatch. Maybe in the in the lobbies u host, u can edit the size, just incase u don't want a lot of people and wanna change the map into the right size by blocking off certain parts off the level, like on PDZ.

  • 07.15.2006 3:50 PM PDT

we'd need more players then... maybe scalable maps like BF2

I can imagine the streets of New Mombassa with tons of sky scrapers and some totaled buildings, with 50-64 players piloting pelicans, and many other vehicles. And a few buildings that are fully detailed on the inside wich you can go into.

i think it should be massive only if both teams get like a sh1t load of vehicles and maybe a pelican.

If you wanna see an airplane cemetery, why don't you just find an old airplane and look at where it goes?

How would you make sure that both teams would keep the vehicles that belong to them?

it might not lag come on its HALO3

  • 07.15.2006 6:02 PM PDT

if the maps are big enough to make halo 3 have 2-3 disc the it is big enough
1: campaign disk
2: Collecters disk
3: Multiplayer disk

Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain

Posted by: Fritz White
I can just picture Mechalord reading his post to a group of Halo fans at GameStop in real life: loud, halting speech, his pimpled face turning red with anger at weak noobs, wildly gesticulating and banging the counter to drive his point home, stroking his tiny teen mustache like Halo Hitler. You need a girlfriend buddy.

Depends on how many players, how many vehicles and how quickly those vehicles respawn.

For example on BTB I love Headlong and Zanzibar because you can get to the enemy base in a heartbeat and your constantly fighting, I enjoy Coagulation as well because the vehicles respawn quickly enough but I cant stand Containment because there are hardly any vehicles, they seem to take forever to respawn and you spend more time running towards the other base than actually fighting

The quality of the game doesn't really affect how much it will lag. Lag is mostly dependant upon connection speed and location.

Personally, i feel each map should have an editable size, like PDZ had. You could make Midship small, like it is, or Massive and take place on half a covenant cruiser. Or make coag small, and only take place on 1 base, or Massive and have the caves lead to another canyon.

It would be much better because instead of making specified maps for each size, every map could fit any game.
