I for one hope that all of the excellent features shown in the Halo 2 demo trailer that didn't make it to the game will show up in Halo 3. For instance, melee combo-ing a brute (not just a single punch) to take it down, being able to wreak havoc on a phantom to take it down, having enemies not only form lines to attack you but also jump onto your vehicle while it's moving at full speed, and above all....actually taking place on earth.

The trailer showed airstrikes and far superior (I'm talking dramatic flare here) in-game cinematics (once you get past the film quality). It actually felt like you were trying to save earth...not just chase the covies away. The environment also seemed far more destructible and interactive.

Here's the address for the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql0FxV7oWt4&search=Halo%20 2%20demo

The opening scenes are similar to what appeared it Halo 2, but the similarities end when in the game a scarab shoots you down. The interaction with the marines is far superior to what was done in the game, it actually felt like a war, and the blood seemed more realistic. To put things bluntly, it actually looked like a war was being fought and some strategy had to be used. I also prefer the single-shot-while-zoomed BR.

Could this be similar to what we'll see in Halo 3? The one disimilarity I see is that it seems Brutes and elites are both still against the chief....but it doesn't show if they're against each other....

Simply put, watching this trailer got me excited for Halo 2, but by comparison I thought the actual gaming experience was lax..... is Bungie saving this type of mission for Halo 3?

Thoughts......

98% of teenagers drink or have done drugs. Put this in your profile if you like bagels.

I'm sure that everybody would love it if Halo 3 was like the E3 trailer. It would be amazing. And I hope that Bungie understands what everybody wants for Halo 3. I heard the E3 demo was ran off of 3 XBOX's. I don't know if that is true or not but hopefully they can pull it off with the 360.

the trailer for halo 2 was so tight. and the graphics were better than the actual game was. if halo 2 was like that it would have been so good

Honestly, I felt betrayed that I reserved a copy of a game that was supposed to be one thing and then, after I paid $60 and played through it, found out that it was another. I understand the business principles of generating a lot of hype about a game to increase sales, but generating hype shouldn't be the same thing as deception. If other videos are released about Halo 3 that won't be part of, or at least similar to, the final game then just say so.... The demo trailer seemed like it was the start of a great battle for earth as the peilcan carrying the chief flies in, but when that point arrived in the game Bungie decided to go in another direction (i.e. back to another Halo where we pretty much did the same thing as in Halo: CE except we were the arbitor. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the extra back story Halo 2 provided, but i think the overall gameplay experience suffered because of it. Whether or not this plot change came as a result of Microsoft pushing a third game to be on their next generation console we'll never know.....but that could explain why the game was delayed for so long and then seemed to be nothing but filler between an opening and a final saga... Bungie may have presented a finished product that ended the story line and then the powers that be decided more $ was in order. Even the most creative minds must answer to whoever foots the bill....
Gates.....

Whether or not Microsoft pressured Bungie to extend the franchise to a third game to increase profit and solidify their console as a major player in the market is unknown, but I think it is probably true.

Well, seeing that the Cheif pissed off the Covenant (both brutes and Elites), it would be logical to have a level like that,

but remove cortana (since she's gone coo-coo-ca-choo!) ,and the purpose of the level could be that the Cheif has killed truth, but needs to destroy a covenant cruser (that won't gtfo of Earth) that's threatning Mombasa (or was it old mombasa?)

and the reason that he's with Helljumpers is, well, the cheif's gonna need alot of fighting power.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And if this level IS made, not only will Bungie be praised and have delicious bacon sent to them as thank-you presents, they can change it a bit to make sense in the Halo 3 Campaign (In the beginning, Sargant Johnson says "we're going in, get tactical marines!", Bungie could replace him with a different character seeing that he's on delta Halo [or if he came back, they could give him different lines/movement]).
Finally, alot of people have said that the graphics from the trailer is teh awesome, and I agree, but the xbox 360's graphic capabilities are much higer than that of the demo's, so Bungie will have to change the graphics to make sense with the Halo 3 story (The cheif's armor).
Well, if a bungie employee is looking at this post, than hey, this idea could work! :D
I have walked the edge of the Abyss.I have governed the unwilling.I have witnessed countless empires break before me.I have seen the most courageous soldiers fall away in fear.[I was there with the Angel at the tomb]
I have seen your future.
And I have learned.
There will be no more Sadness. No more Anger. No more Envy.
I HAVE WON.
Oh, and your poet Eliot had it all wrong:
THIS is the way the world ends.
no darkviper i think u got it confused
They had 3 xbox's running in case one of them crashed and then they could just keep the trailer going on the other one,
and i think it was only 2
There were never melee combos in Halo 2, just more than one animation.
I Agree, that video was the most amazing thing in the WORLD. It was like a real fight for the city, After watching that Outskirts almost looks like just chasing some covies out of the slums
There may never have been combos, but look at how fast he is able to string the attacks together. The only way I know of to hit that fast is to exploit BxB, which I believe is cheating and should not be done. But seriously, would it really take as long as it does for a genetically enhanced super soldier to hit somebody twice?
I am just hoping they give Halo 3 a whole new "feel" like in the E3, just so it feel more fun, different, and more exciting.
If you have a 360 go download the Halo 3 beginning video. It says that Halo 3 will have the same graphics as the announcement trailer.
Halo 3 should be like the E3 trailer, and even better upon that.
I don't see why Bungie suddenly had a newfound rethink that they had less in mind than what they did at E3.
Just so everyone is clear here, we're talking about if Halo 3 will have the same feel of a game as the demo trailer for Halo 2 made Halo 2 feel like it would. Basically, will Halo 3 feel like we were told Halo 2 would. Graphics are obviously not the issue here since the two games are on different consoles.
We're not discussing will Halo 3 look like the Halo 3 trailer, we already know Bungie said it would.
Watch the video in my initial post and you'll know what I mean.
