1. Forerunners
How old are they if millions of years, somehow thier installations survived after thier activation of a halo, the halo(s) themseves somhow also survived, prophets and librarians also survived
2. Covenant
Thier languages, the grunts speak english, the elites have segmented english, the hunters just animalistic howls, brutes barking, the fly-things seem to have no language at all, and the prophets seem to sound like something from a 15th century cathedral, and somehow they they have broken the human defences on earth until the end of the 2nd game, and they seem to regard forerunner built contraptions(i.e. librarians, "prophets")as holy
3.Humans
The 2500s but still using bullets, all but a few spartan soldiers survived the initial attack by the Covenant, how many times has Seargent Johnson died(not including in-game things like shooting him), somehow not being able to mass-produce spartan soldiers, Master Chief surviving the attack on Reach yet no other spartans
4. The Flood
somehow they survived the first halo acitivation and also spread to other Forerunner installations, and they are pratically immune to Covenant weapons

About the flood part, Halo dosen't kill flood, it kills their food (human, covenant) and when halo was activated it dosent explode things it just kills flood food. And the oracle guy said in halo 1 that the halos were first bulit to study and contain the flood. So at last resort the foreruners activated the rings and died and the zombie guys died probably and the spider flood guys just stayed on the rings.

For the record, Hunters DO actually have a launguage that you can understand... but only in Halo 2, at the last level, can you really get a good chance to hear them.

Its really hard to understand them, but you can sometimes hear things like "whats wrong, Arbitor?"

i thought it was cute when grunts spoke english. i thought it was lame when the elites, brutes, and flood started speaking english. where the hell did gravemind learn english?

and gravemind is a big contradiction. if the halos are supposed to destroy all life and starve the flood to death, what is a fat slobbering flood doing at the bottom of delta halo doing? and why has it been there for over 100 thousand years?

They are not speaking english in halo 1, it was a early translation unit in the mark 5, in halo 2 the mark 6 coverd elites, grunts prophets and possiblly brutes.

if you saw the alternate ending for the halo pc it shows johnson and a elite fighting outside the pillar of autum and when the ship is about to explode johnson says "Looks like it's over, hold me baby." and they hug!

1. Forerunners
How old are they if millions of years, somehow thier installations survived after thier activation of a halo, the halo(s) themseves somhow also survived, prophets and librarians also survived

The 'forerunners' died out, they didn't get blown up. Or thats what I've been told.

The MasterChief has an inbuilt translator into him. Or something similar.

There ARE other spartans, and shooting him in-game? Dude it's a game. 2500 still using bullets? Yeah. And?? They haven't been able to study the covenant's weapons and advance. The rocket launcher now has a homing device.

4. The Flood
somehow they survived the first halo detonation and also spread to other Forerunner installations, and they are pratically immune to Covenant weapons

Immune to covenant weapons? Have you ever player Halo.. or just once? The flood was spread to ALL halos. So 1 halo blast wouldn't kill flood on another Halo. The flood are believed to be used by the forerunners to test stuff on, so you expect them to be on all Halos. Also, they take over people's bodies, so the population grow, real fast.

Thats my explanations. Sure there are better ones. ;]

Ignoring the rest of your questions right now, the first one can be answered quite easily.

Halo is not a bomb. It does not blow up and kill everything by making a ginormous explosion, it wipes out the galaxy of all sentient life, like a neutron bomb that leaves a city, with its buildings, homes, cars, buses, subway, streets, stoplights, and everything else intact and unscratched, but killing every living thing in it.

i did not say that it was a bomb but i'm guessing detonation was not the right word for halo now it's activation O.K?

The Needler is actually pretty damn good against the flood. Espically the explosions from them.

If the cheif has a translater system, then how in halo 2 on "The Great Journey" is Sgt. Jhonson able to talk to the arbiter in the scarab? I suppose he has translation implants? And what about the arbiter? How does he understand him?

if its a trasnlation unit in the spartins armore then how does that explain the eliets speaking english during the arbitor missions?

  • 07.18.2006 7:26 PM PDT

Giant Enemy Scarab: Attack its weakpoint for massive damage!

Ok, so the elites talking english in arbiter missions happens, but if they spoke their 'wort wort' language the whole game, you'd just be sitting there, staring at the screen, wondering what the -blam!- they were all just saying, and what you were meant to be doing in the arbiter missions. Like when in the Arbiter level, how the elite commander guy tells you to open the hangar, if he was speaking in 'wort wort' language, you would have a clue what you were meant to be doing, and to me, thats lame.

Of course, nothing beats watching two elites talk with 'wort' to each other for three minutes in a cutscene ;)

Hah. I don't mind elites screamin' Wort-wort-wort when I'm playing as the Master Chief. It's all alien gibberish to me.
But if I were the Arbiter, and an elite comes up to me, an': "Wort! Wort-wort?" My first impulse would be to bring my plasma rifle down on the alien's head.
"Hey, if you're going to live in this country, I think you should learn to speak the language."
"What language!? We're on an alien planet!"
