theres a reason why he is "GRAVE" mind he is a collection of life forms, forerunners, humans, covernant what ever. He was doing it to regret making his mind become his thats what the flood do the still have there memories and skills. An example of a gravemind forming was in halo 1 with cpt Keyes he had more then one body on him and had tenticles.

Heres a thought.. They guy above says that the Gravemind has Cpt Keyes in him.....and that was in the brig of the covi ship...Now didn't that ship go Kablooey?

O.o.......how did he get off that place?

Or worse... are there more than one Gravemind?

I'm most likely thinking too deep... however if theres more than one what we need is the ultimate wepeon.. a weed wacker

:D

*sighs* captain keyes wasn't turning into a gravemind. if he was, it would take a long time. he was the rarest form: a brain form. it takes the minds of captains of ships and uses them. and also, gravemind said he had been alive for a really long time. captain keyes wasn't. and yes, the ship did go kablooie, and captain keyes a long with the flood brain got deep fried.

Yes he was. It was confirmed by Joseph Staten.

Really? I've never heard that before, however I'm not about to question the word of opogjijijp or anything. Well, that just changes everything doesn't it...

So therefore I suppose that there could be multiple Graveminds, and that their creation isn't that difficult or rare. It also implies that the flood need only be released for a very short amount of time before they create a "Gravemind".

I think that the "Keyes Blob" was harvesting Covenant information from the 'Truth and Reconciliation', which was being added to Cptn. Keyes' own knowledge. Maybe this new type of flood can assimilate other forms - a la Regret - in order to expand its own intelligence.

This also implies that perhaps a "Keyes Blob"-esque flood creature could have been being formed on the Pillar of Autumn, as long as a "host" of requisite intelligence and knowledge had been found, or perhaps a base of enough information, like the "T & R".

Also that "Keyes Blob" was formed pretty quickly after Keyes was talking to John over the radio... I rekon he was being assimilated by the blob like Regret was. I think he was being manipulated by the blob, or hadn't realised the chief and cortana's plans.

Can opogjijijp find where Staten said this? I'm sure I'm on to something here...

whoever Staten is, i need to talk to him. and even if keyes was turning into a gravemind, it would take a lot more bodies and a lot more time. and wouldn't cortana have said something about there probably being more graveminds?

He is a writer at Bungie and was the Director of cinematics for Halo 1 and 2.

I'll try to find a link.

It's probably his way of saying he's been there for an indefinately long time listening in. The rock and metal part is the pit he's trapped within. And through time, probably means he's listened to alot over time and/or the time frame the humans and Covenant set foot on Halo.

I think he has ESP.
