Yeah because if you like put a hole in the head of a .44 cal bullet won't it make a giant hole in the back of your target? I remember shooting with my airsoft gun at a target close range the hole was small at first but on the other side of the target it was 3 times the size of the pellet.

And it's your connection that's slower than turtle sex.

Yes, high explosive rounds, or HE rounds, very nasty buggers, it's how the pistol kills hunters in one shot, the HE round explodes, and further damage to the microscopic hunter worms is caused by shrapnel going in all directions, therefore, disabling the hunter.

According to the posters logic, taking a shell the size of a Mini Cooper and launching the "shell" at 0.001 MPH will kill someone because it's big.

That is a function of energy transfer, and bullet deformation.

But Airsoft aren't capable of the velocities where typical bullets deform, expand, tumble and cause shock damage to tissue.

The "small entry, large exit" is one way to see damage, but I've seen some horrific damage and there was no exit wound.

One was from a .45 frangible (likely either a safety slug or something similar). One entry near the thigh but fragments throughout the body up to his neck. The patient came in unconscious and died from massive internal bleeding. Nasty nasty. But that would have been an example of 100% energy transfer.

Are you the guy who does the autopsy's? (sp?)

I've never quite understood the concept of high-explosive handgun rounds. Currently there is no such thing. HE rounds are reserved for artillery shells, which have a huge projectile compared to any small arm (pistol or rifle).

The problem with making such a small projectile "explosive" is that at high enough speeds, most small-arm projectiles are easily deformed on impact. They aren't very rigid containers but would need to contain an explosive charge. In addition they would need to contain some sort of fusing or other mechanism that would then detonate the projectile's explosive.

Now that sort of stuff can be put into an artillery shell (usually larger than a soda can), but how to put all of that into something the size of (in the case of .50) the tip of your finger and still have it hold together during the process of being fired?

Oh well, it's the "future" and it is just a game. We can say that they are HE and even guided and no one can say we can't.

Well, they used HE rounds in Aliens, the influence of which can be found all over this game.

Well who cares on why the pistol is so strong. Let's leave it at the fact that it's strong, and it's one of the best all around weapons in Halo:CE.

Hey, Halo 1 pistols are awesome. But ARs are better.

Yeah, why do people say the ARs suck, I use them twice as much as the pistol.

It never said that. If the sniper rifle can only carry four FIFTY CAL bullets, how could the pistol carry so much more in a tiny magazine? Oh, yeah, shoot it at the ground, the pistol ammo makes a small explosion, thats why it hurts so much, its a semi-explosive round.
