To be honest BOT's suck, If you ever get good enough you'll always be able to predict what ther're goin to do. I say just bigger amounts of people...live 32 on a live match rather than 16.

It would be mayhem...

And put a zoom on the tank turret (It makes things really difficult for other players).

The only bot i would include are training bots for specific situatiojns when practicing for singleplayer but not on live

I think that the bots would probably not be so good and would probably get owned but still for the people without Xbox Live it would give them something to do, because I dont have it!

I'd like bots. Grunts and marines to round out things and defend bases as best as they are able. The best thing about these types of bots is that when the host is in doubt, they'll cast more light upon the player's side.

I really wouldn't want them on offence, at least, not without some major AI work. On previous online games all I've ever seen them do is run in a straight line towards the enemy flag stands over and over again even if the enemy has set up a perfect kill zone.

No bots on XBL, but on system link or split screen that'd be nice so long as the bots aren't super easy to kill.

It would be nice, for training and something to do. You could make your own little battles, and all that. Maybe have 2 teams, or all against you. You could change intelligence level, weapons, and all that. It would be cool if you could command them.

For single player, I think it wouldn't be too bad to control them, although people wouldn't want a squad-based shooter. I think it would be cool, to control them so they're useful. Options could include "Follow me", "Cease fire", "Attack", and "Throw grenade". Since they're only 4 bits on the D-pad, you could only have 4 options. If Bungie thought best, you could have your character tell them to do the option, and have hand motions for attack or whatever.

We've been here since you left.
We left before you came.

If Halo 3 had bots I would play Halo alot more. Plus that would help you practice for XBL.
Or Bungie could do what they did with the Multiplayer Map Pack, buy a sperate game were you could download bots into the multiplayer levels.

I'd like to state that yes I DID look at this from all points of view.

If you don't have friends irl who can come over with a controller or two... Then you're screwed and you need Bots. The solution to this is simple. GET SOME FRIENDS or Buy XBL.

I have XBL.

I bought Halo 1 knowing full well I probably wasn't going to be able to play it with friends.

As it turns out, I was. I just had to buy a couple extra controllers, and PRESTO.

I didn't need Bots!

And about your idea of "If you don't like Bots, just don't use them" crap...

Well, let's see how I can shoot that down...

I'd rather Bungie put something much more worthwhile in the diskspace you want to use for Bots instead of Bots. Something EVERYONE will use. Perhaps two or ten more maps. Perhaps a longer Campaign. Perhaps more weapons or vehicles or enemies. Perhaps a few more cutscenes. I'd rather we use the diskspace for something you guys aren't going to be whining about four days after it comes out. You guys know you will be as well. "The Bots suck! Why did you put them in?! You should have done all this other stuff instead!".

Don't lie, you guys know that's how it'd work.

So, someone smarter than ya'll has to point out that Bots suck in ANY game they're in, and we want much better and cooler stuff than a few crappy Bots, so little kids without friends can play with themselves.

You want Bots? Play Campaign.

Sick of Campaign? Make some friends with kids from school (unless you're home schooled... Then I suggest talking your parents into playing the game with you).

Can't get kids to play it with you for one reason or another?

Make a deal with your parents to get XBL.

No money or net connection for XBL?

GET A NEW GAME! You've obviously exhausted your resources for playing the game you've got.

Bots are never cool...

I wish PDZ would've used their space for Bots to do something else. Perhaps add a JUMP command. Perhaps design better levels. Perhaps increase the length of Campaign.

If you have friends or XBL, you don't need Bots.

I thought of everything, my friends. It's too bad that you guys have not...

That was long...finnished, well to be honest, if ur poor enough to be without xbl or the incredible thing called the "internet" then you probably don't deserve it. I mean XBL is free to 360 users and the internet only costs (in england, i don't know american rates) £18 a month.

Fork out the cash and get the reward. Its woth the cash so you might as well.

I'm sorry If this post has offended anyone but it had to be said ;)

Opinion.

Perhaps you don't think Bots are worthwhile because you haven't come across any decent Bots on a game before, who's to say that it won't change with Halo 3?

Also, with your point about playing Campaign, getting Xbox Live or getting friends, for some people that's not an option because, as was said before, they can't get access to the internet, or they're bored of Campaign or their friends don't want to play. From the limited number of people that have posted on this thread and have said they would like Bots, out of billions of other people in the world, i think Bots would be a worthwhile investment for Halo 3.

Sometimes, you just turn on your Xbox and want to run around a multiplayer map for an hour/half an hour shooting at someone, but without Xbox Live or friends that can appear within say, an hour or two, Bots are the only answer. Except just not playing on Halo, you could play on a different game, but you may not have many other games, not everyone has hoards of Xbox games, or you might not be in the mood for a different game at that time.

The matter of Bots is based entirely on opinion and circumstance. I think that there are enough people playing Halo that would enjoy/benefit from Bots for it to be seriously considered.

I dont think bots would be a good idea, it would take quite awhile programmin bots for every map, and what about wide open maps? theres no way even on 360 any one can programmin a bot to act like humans. Also i think bots online would only ruin the community. But there is hope for no xbl users, and that is bots only offline, so us onliners dont have to use them.Still though it is very unlikely you offliners will ever get that expeirence of playing with real people, i think playing with bots would be very boring, i had fun in halo 1without bots, and when i had no one to play with i did jumps in the hog. Also i think bots online would only ruin the community.

...Halo has NEVER needed bots. It's never going to need them, ever. It has enough Bots in the Campaign that it should satisfy you. And if they're not enough... Imagine a dumbed down version of the Campaign AI on a Multiplayer map.

Yeah, you didn't think this through, did you?

you say that because you have xbl
think of those who only have to play the same campaign day after day, and after a while find no match in legendary.
let me remind you, that halo has achieved worldwide sales, but there is no xbl worldwide

Yeah, you didn't think that through, did you?

Man i just read your sig!
I love the bots in N64s perfect dark. I always bring them up in bot arguements.I love them Dark sims were insane. A few months ago i played with them and i got owned. they get crazy. Dude perfect sims would even re treat when getting beat.

The point i try to stress but NO ONE LISTENS!!! Cause most people on here are the most closed minded people i ever encountered. Is that if an N64 game could produce challenging AI on bot scenarios. Why cant a system thats practically a computer?

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

"Oh Molly Connoly ruined my life, I thought the world should know."
Say Anything - Every Man Has A Molly

I'd like to point out that the "Dark" Sims on Perfect Dark 64 had to CHEAT to be a challenge.

That is to say...

Super accuracy, super response time, always have radar (even if you disable it for the map), within seconds of spawning have the best weapon on the map or duals of it, super speed, always hit you in the head, and always run to your location upon your spawn.

The only way to make a Bot "challenging" is to give it "cheating" features.

And of the few people who posted who wanted Bots... If it's representative of the WHOLE community...

There aren't many of you. What do we have, about 20 people out of a list of MILLIONS of players worldwide?

Doesn't sound to me like a worthwhile endeavor.

And it's a proven FACT that Bots are added into gameplay to increase replay value. This is why notoriously crappy games tend to have BOTS. Why? You wouldn't play it, because nobody else is. They give you Bots so you will play it.

Okay... so you want to run around a map for an hour or a half hour, shooting Bots. I won't question your sanity... But what prevents you from buying a second controller and loading in a character, taping down the joystick, and then trying to find the guy to shoot?

Did I ever get bored with Multiplayer? Yep, I did. Before I had Xbox Live, yes I did. I would occassionally have friends who didn't want to play (they were tired of me winning, despite all they did to cheat). And there were times when I was sick of the Campaign...

But to be PERFECTLY honest... I used that spare time to practice the maps. To know them inside and out. I spent that time trying to get on top of levels or find glitches... I spent that time trying to get vehicles into areas they normally aren't supposed to be in.

Like getting the Scorpion up the snow slopes and across the bridge on Sidewinder. Or get it inside the tunnels in the middle of the same map.

I spent time trying to get a Ghost or a Warthog into the tops of the bases in Sidewinder.

I found a way to completely eliminate the Tanks in Blood Gulch, by stuffing them into a cave, where they cannot get out because of the way the inside of the cave is designed.

I spent considerable time trying to drag Warthogs and Ghosts to the bottoms of shafts in Campaign.

I spent time in the first level of Halo 1 pushing the invicible marines into a hole so they couldn't shoot me anymore, and then shooting at them from the top of the ladder, until the level automatically reset (after an hour or so).

I spent hours making gametypes just to try to be crazy...

I spent time looking for the best places to snipe from on every map, or best ways to get around without being seen.

I spent time messing with my colors to find the best overall color to blend in with surroundings.

I spent a lot of time grenade jumping to get to locales I wasn't suppossed to be in.

I enjoyed the heck out of the game WITHOUT Bots...

And if you need Bots in order to enjoy the game, then Halo is NOT the game for you. I'm sorry, but it's not.

I highly suggest picking up Perfect Dark Zero if you want to kill some Bots for a while. For that hour or half hour. That will quench your craving for easy kills and unsatisfying gaming. Then, load up Halo again, and have at it.

And I'd like to note that XBox 360 DOES come with XBL if you buy the big package. I know most of you did buy the big package along with a game. So you guys have Live, if you bother to set it up and play it. It comes with all the equipment to do so, as well.

So, I doubt you'll have a need for Bots in Halo 3, when the system that will play it, COMES with a years worth of play online for it.

But hey, who am I to say such things?

I'm just a twenty-year-old gamer who takes all gaming seriously and finds very FEW games to actually be fun or worthwhile (I'm not easily impressed). Nevermind that I've seen the rise of Bots and the fall of them... Nevermind that I own so many horrible and terrible games that I would know what makes a game stupid and horrible... Nevermind that I can get reviews and information on any game that comes out and on the things that would irk me about them, or the things that irk other players about them...

And lets' face a HUGE fact right now, before I end this post....

Every last one of you who wants Bots in the game has, at some point or another, complained about the AI in Campaign not being hard enough. And because you want Bots... You've not played enough games with them IN IT. They are, and will remain, a dumbed down version of the Campaign Bots. Why? Multiplayer maps play MUCH differently than Campaign Maps. The Bots would require a LOT more coding to even be worthwhile.

I don't want to sacrifice valuable disk space for a dumbed down version of the Campaign AI on a Multiplayer Map. I'd rather shell out the $50 for a years subscription to XBL, or the $30 for another controller and $2 for some tape to give myself a moving target. It would take as much skill to kill that moving target as a Bot, and be just as satisfying.

Anyone who has killed Bots as much as I have, or as long as I have, knows that there's very LITTLE satisfaction in killing Bots, even if you're doing it just to pass time. You leave the game and find something better to do. That's why I no longer play the original Perfect Dark. That's why I don't play Perfect Dark Zero, unless I aim at an Achievement. It's why I don't play Unreal Tournament (any of them) and why I was a little unimpressed with Doom. It's why I seldom play against computers on Starcraft (or Broodwar) and why I dislike playing Mario Party without a full room of people.

I grew up with Bots and games that use them to try to enhance the "fun" of the game. If it does work, the shine fades quickly, and you're back to looking for a new game.

I don't want Halo 3 to be like that. Halo is cool in it's own right, WITHOUT Bots. It didn't need Bots to sell Halo 1, and it didn't need them to sell Halo 2. It won't need them to sell Halo 3, and let's be honest...

You jerks would still buy Halo 3 even if it didn't have Bots.

It's just a tacky feature you want added because you either don't have money or don't have friends... I suggest finding new things to do with the game, or a new game to play.

If you can't buy a game, rent one.

I don't want to hear any more excuses. I can shoot them all out of the water, so don't bother.

Why not just tell us that you guys don't have any friends and we can end this debate once and for all?

Thank you.

Bots... The Age old question...

Bots, I believe, were first introduced in games like "Perfect Dark" for the N64. They were around in case you didn't want to splurge for another $20 or $30 for a controller, or even have a friend come over to play it with you.

The N64 and other consoles had NO internet connections and you needed other players or bots to even USE the multiplayer aspect of the games.

But since the introduction to Consoles to this wonderful thing we call "The Internet"... You don't need Bots unless you simply suck at the game or can't pay the yearly fee of $50 for XBL.

Let's also be honest, Bots aren't very satisfying to even KILL. On PDZ, they're used to quickly get some of your achievements or to simply fill in a few slots to balance out a team.

Sure, you could make them harder, but all it does is take more ammo to kill them and they get more headshots. They also don't stand still as much and let you shoot them.

And in Halo 2, you don't need Bots or another player to even EXPLORE a map. Just load it up, one player, and you can explore the map to your hearts' content. As long as you want, you don't even have to be online.

Bots are typically VERY stupid and not even worth implementing, unless you've got no friends and no money.

Honestly, I've never seen a bot even come CLOSE to thinking for itself. You play against them long enough, and you've got their coding figured out. You know exactly what they'll do in every situation and even "high traffic" areas for bots. You'll figure out their weapons of choice (most Bots just pick up the strongest weapon they can, then try to kill you with it). They have trouble distinguishing between targets of opportunity as well as priority targets (power weapon whores are priority targets) within a battle. In Capture the Flag, they often ignore a flag carrier, and sometimes even ignore the dropped flag. They stand mindlessly on the flag capture point when they have the flag, and die just as mindlessly there.

I use Bots for nothing more than getting Achievements. They're stupid, useless, and worthless. Unless they implement a feature where I can program behaviors into my OWN Bots for gameplay... They're going to continue to be this way.

Bots don't even try to snipe! Or pin down spawn areas! They don't even attempt to hold an area!

Halo has NEVER needed bots. It's never going to need them, ever. It has enough Bots in the Campaign that it should satisfy you. And if they're not enough... Imagine a dumbed down version of the Campaign AI on a Multiplayer map.

Yeah, you didn't think this through, did you?

That's really not fair to say. What about for all those people who have friends come over that like Halo, but don't have the game or an Xbox. You certainly can't roll into a Live game. Guests get slaughtered.
