You realise that was just a joke?

He did in fact get off Halo via a Pelican piloted by a certain Warrent Officer Polaski and a small group of others...

There you have it, end of discussion.

I have read First Strike. Do the Covenant say they are heading for Earth? No, that's just what the Humans assumed.

the reason there are 15 ships in halo 2 is because the chief (with the help of 3 remaining spartans) nukes the covie repair station (unyeilding hyrophant) and destroys half that fleet

Um, then how was having half the fleet destroyed and still proceeding to earth a mistake in the human presence?

the covenant thought it was revenge and they thought, it was to add new additions to the chiefs never-ending body count

Stop talking. If you want to find out how Sgt. Johnson got off of Installation 04 then buy the HGN (Halo Graphic Novel) when it comes out. There is an explanation of how he got off of Installation 04.

They didn't tell us what it was it could have been anything. Frankie gets scared easy incase you didn't know.

I still find it strange the the covenant would still head for earth after losing over 475 ships for the operation.

They did not expect to find Humans on Earth. Miranda Keyes says it on Outskirts I believe.

There is a large gap between First Strike and Halo 2. It's not like First Strike ended 1 hour before Halo 2.

Yes, yet another point that the books are completely erroneous and don't match up well with the game. Stupid ideas like "slippery shields" and "flash freezing". Total ignorance of how zero gravity combat works. Not to mention ideals that are completely conflicting, like how Prophet Ships have no personnel other then the elite bodyguard*. Oh wait, then Halo 2 comes along and shows a single prophet's cruiser having thousands of troops, vehicles, hunters, a scarab... you name it, Regret's ship had it.

Then there's also another piece of Canon. The Halo 2 game manual which refers to the Master Chief as the one remaining Spartan.... and this is after First Strike... so maybe all the other Spartans died on the way to Earth in some freak accident... or one of them is wrong.

* (who... strangely weren'y Honour Guards like they were supposed to be but regular elites)

yeah. who even knows if first strike happened? i mean, in the book, there were about a thousand cruisers getting ready to jump to earth. in Halo 2, only about 15 came and didn't expect to see humans there. explain that!

This, I believe is the most kick arse point that all the "book people" are missing. I read the books myself. It just goes to show that either A.) They didn't tell Nylund everything or B) Bungie had no idea how Sgt. Johnson got off the ring and left it to Nylund who, as usual, screwed things up.

Nothing in First Strike matched up with Halo 2. For example, Nylund knew that even the Chief and a handful of men couldn't take an entire cruiserr by themselves. His solution? Oh, it was a Prophet's flagship. Prophet ships don't have any crew except his personal Elite bodyguards.

In reality, we know that a Prophet's' cruiser has a full compliment of soldiers, from elites down to grunts since Regret's ship was the only one to break through the blockade and get down to New Mombasa. One hip had all the troops you encountered for all the Earth stages.

Nylund can't get anything right.

Personally, if I'd been writing 'd have had the Sarge and a good couple dozen survivors in a Covenant cruiser. The chief would have then used the debris of Halo to cover his Longsword's advance towards the ship and snuck aboard, freed the troops and then arranged a mutiny. They'd have fought their way to the ship's mainframe/engineering area and Cortana would have depressurized the ship deck by deck.

Do you remember the lower prophet that wen't to the TaR after the raid in the flood. Possibly it was his ship and he had ordered his men off leaving only a few security guards at the time when halo blew.

It wasn't a prophets ship, at the end of the book, First Strike, it shows the prophet of regret talking to tartarus about the Arbiter, if he faith can match his failier for losing the ship. The Elite could of escaped via escape pods that were in a corridor by the bridge.

Master Chief, is the last Spartan because no reference to any other Spartans were made in Halo 2.

Slippery Shields; shiels slipping over shields in slipspace. Sounds reasonable.

Then who eles ship is it, we have a dead lower prophet and a random flagship? Just b/c theres no other spartans in game, doesn't elitminate them from the storyline.
