"VIctory and defeat go hand in hand.
Your choice lies in which hand you are willing to sacrifice to be the victor.
The strongest hand doesn't always win, strategy and timing are key."

the forerunners are an ancient race that lived long ago. we all know that they have something to do with creating the flood or finding them, maybe they were even attacked by another race with the flood, or the forerunners are the flood, or some combination with the flood and forerunners. what if the only thing that could have been left was a seed you could say, or a marker, that could one daygrow into sentient life to reclaim the forerunners technology and place in the universe. humans and covenants are these seeds, come to replenish the universe with life, but the only problem is, one group fell victim to the glory of forerunner technology and believed they were gods, the true decendants are to stop them. as it boils down to the last and final battle for the key, a message will be delivered to correct the errors.

i hope its as good as we are all expecting....

I was thinking.... What if and only what if the Forerunner actually knew a war between humanity and Covenant would break out? Follow me on this for a second. I mean who better to suceed them as the most powerful beings in the universe than a race who can survive a genocidal war for decades, I believe this war, this whole story was prefabricated by forerunner military strategists to test the tenacity, intelligence, strength and resolve of humans in order to name a sucessor to themselves. THis is just an idea. I dont mean to use someone else's thread to say this but it kind of ties into what Greatness x me
just said.

no i feel you on that one, i was thinking, what if two sects of the forerunners each wanted to be passed on, so seeds of each were laiden on opposite sides of the universe, after the destruction of sentient life, these two species were to come into contact eventually, of its peaceful, then all is well, hostile, and the better of the two with the mental stability is to hold the power, and the rings are the test, but if the test is failed, so are the two races. and the cycle starts over again until a worthy successor emerges.

I think the forerunners lived on earth... they could have been like the cavemen or something, but they left arcahic cave paintings behind knowing we would find them to cover up for the greatness and technology.... i got this idea from the cutscene at the start of Delta halo

at one part when were watching the chief and his "helljumpers" falling to the ring, you see a section of land on the ring that looks Very similar to the Africa continent

all i know is that the new halo 3 brings me giddyness like i was a kid given the biggest bag of candy ever, and like a man who lost his wife, the end of the series is just that, the end of the series, no new halo's to look forward to.

Greatness x me great point on that one. Sounds almost like one of those time warps that if something isnt done differently everything is reset. But get this, what if the forerunner werent actually gone in a sense. What if they were AI at this point in time. With their advanced tech they could appear to the Prophets in achient forerunner labs saying that they were gods, and use the tech to snare the covenant into trying to destroy humanity, THat would sure as heck explain why they attacked so suddenly and with no reason. they could have been sent by the forerunner themselves

yes, that could be true, but i think that the prophets would have gloated about meeting the "gods". and brag about their task and that wasnt prevalent in the games or written texts anywhere that i saw, good thought though, could be, who knows, these bungie guys love to through curveballs, they are actually more like boomerangs.

But the books and everything have never actually said that the Prophets have not met the gods either
