maybe there's both!!
(sigh) Well, at least there's ONE person who's on the right track. Let me clear this up for you guys:
1) First, get an image of the assault rifle from Halo: CE in front of you
2) Next, get an image of the battle rifle from Halo 2 in front of you
3) Now, go to the Halo 3 section and watch the trailer. Pause it as soon as Master Chief slings his new gun down from over his shoulder to a resting position.
4) Look closely at the images of the assault rifle and the battle rifle, then look at his new gun...notice anything? The body and the frame is similar to that of the old assault rifle, but it has the scope and the longer nozzle from the battle rifle. It's almost as if they took both rifles and combined them to make one rifle...
Now, can anyone put 2 and 2 together and tell me what that means? (raises hand) Yes, you in the back?
(stands up) Deeerrr, dus it meen dat der gunna hav a nu rifel with bof kindsa shootin'?
Yes Larry the Retard, that's exactly what it means. Now here's a cookie for you (snatches cookie and scurries away into the corner). Yes everyone, they are going to give us a new rifle that contains characteristics of BOTH the assault rifle and the battle rifle, meaning that it will be able to utilize fully-automatic firing AND controlled bursts. Most likely, the rifle will fire controlled bursts when the scope is on and full-automatic firing when the scope is deactivated.
Tomorrow we will discuss the origin of the structure found in the trailer: Ark or "God's own anti-son-of-a-*!#&@ machine? Please read pages 323-345 in your Halo bibles to prepare for the lecture. Class dismissed...
