I have noticed alot more gothic and punk people in my town. I am not against it but i think it is odd, because i can remember when being gothic and or punk was odd and different. But now its like a new trend, its a novelty. Everyone is dressing black or like punk rockers and proclaiming that life is useless. Some people on the other hand will dress like that yet still keep a good attitude(those are the people i like) So has anyone else noticed this? Or is it just me?

I don't get the point of "goths" or "punks". In my opinion, based on the ones I've known, the only thing they could possibly stand for is low IQ's. Remember, this is of the ones I know.

I haven't seen an increase in goth, but punk yes. Its all about what is cool or in style, such as "being preppy" was the style a few years ago, now it has come back tword punk. I hate how people choose what to wear, based solely on what everyone else is wearing.

This already happened and went away in my town. Everyone called thos of us that didnt dress goth/punk conformists for a while, but eventually the smart ones realized that to be a "nonconformist" like them, one must conform to another set of standards. Kind of like that southpark episode.

You must have had some weird experiences... My friends at school are all ex-goths, and we're branded one of the "nerd" groups. I think you guys have all seen the most extreme of the goths.
Only the more extreme suicidal ones ever talk about conformists, unless you're paying them out for being different, or do the entirely black thing... yes, black nails, hair, lipstick, make-up freaks me out too... but I also wear alot of black, it's cool and it suits me :P

Don't get into stereotyping people... especially when you're talking on a computer game forum on the net... we're stereotyped as the worst of the nerds!

Townies/chavs/pikeys are the big group over here. If you don't know what they are, let's just say that they are as popular with the public as goths.

You know what else has become a trend over the last few years? Generation X has a lot of people who are realizing they are -blam!- when they're in their 20s. Wouldn't they have known earlier? -blam!-ness is a trend now too, and it's really sad.

Odd... Where I live almost everyone is a wigger, a jock, prep, or emo. It really get on my nerves, that is what almost everyone my age is like, which is why I am friends or on good terms with few punks, goths, rivetheads, metalheads, and skinheads in my town.

It is not a trend, it's part of who a person is. Thats like saying we choose the colour of our skin, hair, eyes, our parents, etc. And saying outlandish comments like "it's really sad" is only going to get you beaten up... I work with 5+ -blam!- people, the majority of them holding positions in management, there's nothing wrong with them, they are people too.
