Wait! Just stop saying that Masterchief dies and surely stop with the "whole world explodes" thing. Now that you are thinking rationaly, have you ever considered that there may be a time loop type thing? Like MC goes back to the original Halo and stops the Covenant from releasing the Flood in the first place?

This would bring all the coolness from the first game, and have some AWESOME plot twists! Like you could be in a fight and see yourself from before fighting some other battle in the distance! I meen LOOK AT HIS GUN IN THE TRAILER!!! It is an Assult Rifle, from original HALO!

The Arc could even be the time device!

I think the likely hood of this is almost nil.

That is not the AR, Bungie said this themselves, it is, but not completely, and your confusing me. because why would the Master Chief go back in time at a time like this? And it's 1/3 through the game, so I highly doubt it.

Cool plot twist, not gonna happen.

Cause if he went back in time it would fix everything that was happening now. On the AR thing remember Bungie prides themselves on... how do I say this... "Omitting certain truths." not that I have a problem with that I am just saying, anything is possible.

and if he fails to stop the covenant then he has to go back in time again .....only to find himself looking at himself trying to save the universe....again he fails and goes back in time....sooner or later there will be hundreds of MC's trying to save the universe.....

Time travel ranks right up there with the phazor as one of the most cliched objects in sci-fi. No. Not just no, but HELL NO. To me, the use of time travel signifies nothing but that one needs to hire new writers.

He couldn't go back in time an alter the universe in Halo 1, because if he did that then Halo 2 should be completely different.

No, but would you rather have the ending be. "Okay everything is dead now... ... ...you can turn off your system... ...really."

If he went back in time and kept the covenant from releasing the flood in the first place then it in the other games the flood would never have been released because he wouldve already gone back in time and stopped the flood from being released. Hence why timetravel (backwards) will never exist because if you went back in time, you would tell someone at that time how to timetravel, which would mean timetravel would have already existed before you went back in time to tell those people that timetravel existed.

No Halo 2 would not have happened if he goes back and fixes everything in Halo.... Which would fix alot of the bad things that happened in Halo 2.

Unless you didn't tell anyone.

Oh! It would also explain why Sgt. Johnson is alive in Halo 2 but acording to the Halo ending (on legendary) he gets blown up with the Halo.

If we invented time travel its bound to happen at some time. In fact I know I would go back and tell my 12yr old self how to do it so I could make loads of money from the invention in the future.

The best group for fan-fics ever made!
wanna be part of the Wrath?
arguments turn into battles and battles turn into wars, dismantle the arguments and everything is fine.

That's like Timesplitters Future Perfect, when youre working with 3 other yous at the same time in one part of a level.

Its a -blam!- easter egg. You can kill him in campaign too and look, he magicly gets better and hugs an elite. Hell if you keep him alive you can find like 5 of him on the same level and have them all stand by each other.

Appeal to Probability

Of course, you also run up against paradoxes. If you told the 12-year-old version of yourself to do something to avoid what has happened to you (the older version), and they did it, there would be no reason to go back in the first place, as you are no longer poor when you reach that point in time. Hence the paradox.

Well, Joe Staten said that time travel was corny, so maybe he won't write it into the Halo 3 script.
