actually back in college me and my roommate had this thing we liked to do.

* pour a puddle of isopropyl alcohol onto a floor
* set glass bottle in center of puddle (we used IBC bottles)
* pour some isopropyl alcohol into the bottle
* light the puddle on the floor
* after a couple of seconds the alcohol in the bottle should start to boil. now hold your lighter up to the top of the bottle and light.

If done correctly you should have a nice flame 2-3ft high shooting out of the top of the bottle.

I do not recommend any of the things I am about to mention, so if you choose to do them and hurt yourself or others don't start saying I told you to. Back when I considered myself a bit of a pyro, I never did anything major, but I would always spray assloads of hairspray into my bathroom sink and light it on fire. I would also put zippo lighter fluid in the toilet so I could light the water on fire. Grunt Assasin already mentioned one of my pyro tricks, but I never used straight alcohol on my hand, I always used cologne, that way you could just spray it on your hand and light it. and last but not least, my favorite thing I used to do. I would take morning glorys (you know the sparklers that are made out of what looks like tissue paper), cut them open and pour all the powder into a pile, and safely lit it. We did a huge pile one time of like 55 morning glories, you could feel the heat off of it from about 15 feet away.

Ironically, my friends and I made nitro-gylcerine. Then decided to toss it at the ground. Fortunately it was only about 10 mL worth because it left about a 3 feet wide 1 foot deep hole in the ground.

Needless to say we didn't do that again when my friend was knocked off the ground from 15 feet away.

And focus: we still do that in college ;)

If my residents or we had done that there would have been at least 5 five engines in front of the dorm room within 3 minutes.

So we just did it in an apartment :(

for some reason our smoke detector in our room didn't work. it could have something to do with a blow gun.

the first time i made a potato gun, i took some friends out to an open clearing to test it out. unfortunately it didn't perform to my expectations (the potatoes weren't sealing properly inside the barrel). but rather than go home in failure, we made the most of the situation and turned that sucker into the baddest PVC flamethrower ever created. aside from the typical tomfoolery (chasing each other with the flamethrower while it was belching forth hellfire), we also burninated many a thing. such as the extra potatoes we took along, and a huge pile of manure. by the end of the day the potato gun / flamethrower was charred and melted, and several of us were missing patches of hair from various parts of our body.
needless to say, there is no moral to this story. nor can it be said that any divine insight or knowledge may be gained from it. except that flamethrowers are the -blam!-.

I don't know why, but as I read these examples, the terms "Darwinism", "Natural Selection", and "Gene Pool" keep popping into my head. *grin*

Very odd thing that.

We were safe :-p

I like my gene pool it allows me to do a lot of things others can't ;)

I was grinning when I made the joke, and still am. I wasn't intending to make fun of anyone in this thread, nor to say/imply that they were stupid/foolish for doing what they have already done (and survived).

my reply was in jest.

I apologize for missing it. Completely my mistake. Thank you for letting me know and not (especially in this topic) "flaming".

haha, good one. no worries, though. i still haven't brought myself to start using "smileys." there's something sinister and unwholesome about them.
