What's the TruSkill way? I don't have a 360 but am getting one soon. I think that they should come up with a different unique one.

The TruSkill method that has been introduced into many X360 games is a system that works like this:

You are in a game and you have a TruSkill of 1... And You play a guy that has a TS of 20. Sounds crazy but keep reading. If you beat him you become a 20 or there abouts as well. This method really helps level the field in most respects as it is "Tru"ly based on "Skill"! Not how many games you have won!

All Xbox 360 games are required to use the TrueSkill system, which I think is a good thing.

On the contrary! Several games such as Battlefield 2: MC and the new LOTR: BFME2 do not support the TruSkill system! Which I hate a great deal but apparently it isn't a requirement!

It aint broke so dont fix it. The current MM ranking system that is in halo 2 works pretty well. I dont see a reason to change it.

Actually, they do. For awhile there, I was unsure if LOTR (great game, btw) used TrueSkill, but it does. It explains why people with worse w/l ratios are ranked better. If you beat some one ranked higher, you go up more, its not based one win/loss like it looks. I haven't played BF2, but it has to have it too.

Well I might have been wrong on the LOTR, but I'm proof positive of Battlefield 2: MC. Everything in there is based on the actually military ranks that you have to get so many kills and so many medals and so many points per hour in order to rank up! It makes sense for the kind of game it is but I do wish that it was really required for all the games!

I remember reading somewhere that it said TrueSkill was required, but now I can only find a Wikipedia entry that says it's used "across all games" here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_Live#TrueSkill

Anyway, I wouldn't doubt that Halo 3 will use it, because of Microsoft.

I think TrueSkill is much more effective and accurate than the current system.

Yeah! It has its pros and cons if they do use it! I know that they are required to all have achievements that score 1000! But that's the only thing I know to be required!

Actually, they're required to not have achievements score more than 1000. Look at BFME 2, it only has 705, the least of all 360 games (not counting Final Fantasy 11).

hold up, if everyone starts with a rank of 1, then theres no way you could ever move up in rank.

if you set your own rank at first, then you could ask your buddy to make his a 50 or w/e the top score is and then kill him.

Rank should be based on in game performance and the ranks of the players you kill or get killed by.

Again you need to do your research more... All games that don't immediately start when shipped with 1000 such as BFME with 705 and Condemned with 650 (this one is the lowest so far) Will eventually after some premium add-ons are released in Mktplce!

TruSkill ranking only works when you play ranked matches! Therefore it wouldn't work in custom games or unranked! But I do see your point in a way! But mostly in the case of the 1 vs. 20 skill! In a great deal of games if that happens the game won't start!

Thats how it works. Here is an overview of the algorithm. It is based off the current Halo 2 ranking system with an added uncertanty number to drecrease the time it takes to get to your skill level. The most impressive thing about it is how fast you get to your skill level, all take less than 100 games to achieve it. Rumble pit could rank you after only 3 games.

I also think that rankings, if like Halo 2 and are displayed, should be out of 100 rather than 50. Why? becuase then new players would be able to advance alot of levels, and feel like they have some progress, and then players would also be more closely matched.

But true skill is more important than just how many games you have won and lost. Because winning and losing can be effected by many variables not taken into consideration (deleveling, laging out of players, cheating, etc.).

You need to do your research... Condemned has 970 as you can see here:

http://www.achieve360points.com/hi/game/condemnedcrimina lorigins/

And tell me, where did you see that about "all games" that don't have 1000 will get 1000? Just asking for a link.

EDIT: Lazied link.

I was stating what the games shipped with! www.achieve360points.com is very reliable and kept updated to what the latest patches and add-ons are! As for your other question... they said so on XBOX.com! I'll try and find a link and post it for you STAT!

P.S.: We're getting off the subject here! If you have personal statements to make thats what PMing is for! Otherwise please keep this thread clean and reply as indicated above under the poll! Thanks!

Ok, you were stating what the games shipped with... So was I. Condemned shipped with 970. There has been no update or anything to bring it up from 650 to 970.

EDIT: Read your edit and I agree this is off-topic. Will not post again unless it's on topic, as this the last I have to say on this anyway.
