(sorry if i've missed a post about this and how long this thread is)

This thread is about how matchmaking for Halo3's multiplayer, whether it should be controlled like H2, by servers randomly creating a match or should it work with a host creating the game. what do you guys think?

For those of you who don't understand, here's an explaination. Xbox360 games (so far) don't play with servers making a random game like H2's current matchmaking, instead another person online has to create a game and allow you to play. This method has both positive and negetive effects (listed below) (add more reasons in your posts if you like).

Positive: good for playing with friends, can control game types better, lowers chance of cheating because host can eject them, more customization, can chose who you play with, etc.

Negative: can take awhile before you find an open game, host changes the teams so they're unbalanced with high level players vs low ranking, host chooses weapons and course only they like, eject you from game for no reason.

If you are talking about an individual hosting their own games, and allowing random people to join, then I'm positive they would be unranked.

For and individual to host, and have the games ranked, it would stay as it is now. The game is set up by Live, and the player with the best connection is host.

Servers would be nice, however, with millions of Halo players on Live, there is a whole list of complications and costs involved with them.

I'm sure Bungie has some tricks up their sleeves for Matchmaking and multiplayer. They will iron out problems and make it as smooth as possible.

You should have private games for custom, but for matchmaking make it a server. It eliminates lag and can be monitored for cheating easier.

If we had servers we couldn't play custom games any more so I would rather have a host control a game any ways games with servers usualy suck gameplay wise because the games get repetative.

An moderator/MVP over at Xbox.com talked to some people that were in charge of Matchmaking, Optimatch, Quickmatch, etc. and they told him that server lists were being downplayed and developers were being strongly encouraged to not use them.

EDIT: I just realized I missed the point about this thread, and please disregard what I said, as it doesn't really apply to what the guy is asking.
