The second you open Halo, or start a map? Did you by any chance get a mod, or make one? I think that just happens when a map is messed up. If it minamizes when you first start the game, I think that would be the UI.map. If all else fails, you will have to re-install Halo.

the game isnt messed up, it works fine on my brothers computer, and no I havent put any mods on my computer, its kinda hard when I cant even play the game. It minimizes when I start up a map. I can sit in the menu and mess with the settings but I cant get in a map. I've also re-installed 2 times, same exact problem.

I cant believe gearbox hasnt fixed this yet, how long has this problem been going on.

Oh, and by the way, I called microsoft (stupid foreign people you cant understand) and they dont know wtf is goin on, they say they got to go do somethin so they'll call back in 30 mins, yeah its been over 2 hrs.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Ah..gotta love forign outsourcing. You can't get help from people in freaking India. Too far away, they really don't know what the hell is going on, and you can't understand a word of what they are saying.
Its gotta be a problem either with your machine, or the CD. Is it any map that does it, or just multiplayer?

List your computer specs please. Particularly the video card you have. Have you tried installing the 1.07 patch manually?

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

It works on your brother's computer, so you know the disc is good.

Did it ever work on your computer?

Something is wrong with the installed game on your computer. After installing off the CD, did you download and install the latest patch?

Other people will want to know your hardware specs, but I don't do PCs so I don't.

you are a jackass, you dont give a -blam!- about anyone else, but I bet if you had my problem then you would be expecting help just like me.

anyway, my video card is a radeon 9600 pro, and this is the first time I've tried to play it on my computer. another question, how, or where, do you change the clocking on your computer. I've read this helps but idk.

Video card is enough for Halo. what you need to do is go to Microsofts web pages under games Halo downloads there should be a 1.07 patch. Download and install that manually then try to run it. Hopefully that gets you running.

Over clocking your computer can be done to speed it up some but you need to know what you are doing or have a utility that does it safely for you. The risk is that you may damage the processor, memory or video card and overclocking voids all warrenties. It may help Halo run a little better but won't help you install it.

I have found the PC game both Halo PC and Halo CE to be remarkably stable considering what it does. I suspect that there is something else on your particular computer that is causing problems with your installation of the game, expecially since you said that your brothers's works fine. Although written for the Halo CE community the guide below is generic enough to assist in basic troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting Gathering Exception errors

Oh you guys are horrible. The guy comes wandering in for help and you give him crap advice like going to Microsoft for a new key.

Newsflash. It doesn't work. Obviously.

Help him out, people, seriously.

As for you, yourself, T, I would suggest remaining calm. Calling them jackasses back (while they may deserve it) is only gonna make things worse.

===================

Exception Data Error occurs when something doesn't "click" in Halo. Usually it's caused by incompatibility between a component in your hardware and the software that calls upon it (in this case, Halo.) Update your GPU drivers and soundcard drivers. Next, reinstall Halo, since the other half of all GED errors occur when you've got a corrupted map or missing file somewhere along the line.

The bungie.net community is the halo PC community that is renowned for being unbelieveably sucky.

Your 9600 is plenty fast to play Halo, but the graphics driver may be severly outdated. Do you run Windows XP?

Go to ATI.com and download the latest Catalyst drivers for your video card should be version 6.6.

Also, make sure you have Direct 9.0c installed. You can do this simply from the "run" menu, type in "dxdiag" and see what version you have.

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

Try calling MS support around 9PM EST. Usually at that time you get Americans on the phone.
