They'll most likely release it during the Christmas season, in order to make the most profit off of the game. Personally, this is my idea of what Bungie should do:
1) Release the demo after summer vacation to give the kids something to talk about during the school year.
3) Start showing the trailer and some new teasers/advertisements during the fall to increase suspense.
4) Make the pre-order tickets available during the christmas season as a holiday gift (the ultimate stocking-stuffer...heh heh)
5) Finally make the game available to the public on New Year's Day, which, by the way, would be 1/1/07 (Master Chief's number). The countdown to the game's release would also be the countdown to the new year, so the publicity would be HUGE. Also, who here could think of a better way to spend New Year's Night than at a massive party with all your friends as you play your newly-purchased Halo 3's through the co-op campaign, or maybe even the XBox Live co-op campaign: millions of gamers all over the world online together to play the last installment of the greatest video game ever made...
But, that's just my opinion...
