i just spent my last $20 on Halo PC (20 is a lot for me because its hard for me to earn money) and i'm getting a lot of errors when starting the game up.

my video card is at 32mb according to DxDiag.
i don't care about a little lag concerning the processer. i just want to play single player.
i have downloaded and installed the latest halo PC update and none of the problems have been fixed. i have done what microsofts support site said and still didn't work. i turned down hardware acceleation and the only thing that changes is that the last error changes from Direct3D to directDraw. i have run DxDiag and tested both and there are no problems. is there anything that i need to do so i can play Halo PC? i don't have the money for upgrades or a new computer either. i'm also running win xp pro with service pack 2.

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Well..Since the image was removed, I don't know what to tell you.

You should tell us what processor, type, brand and clockspeed you have, as well as the specs of the GPU, how much RAM you have, and what error messages come up. Post a pic in Photobucket or something and link to it.

those are the errors. i have 192mb of Ram, 600mhz processer and a 32mb video card. the halo PC box said at least a 32mb video card. its a fairly old computer but its what i'm stuck with. i don't know how to find the other stuff.

Hmmm. I remember my friend had the exact same problem, and I fixed it for him. I just can't remember anymore :(

Ah...those error messages. For most of them, just click the checkbox and hit continue anyways. As for the very last one on the bottom, go to Start>Run and type "dxdiag" and hit enter. That should fix it.

I don't think Halo PC will work if you have a 600 MHz processor, on the box it says you need at least a 733 MHz processor. As for the graphics card, I don't know.

i would think that having a slower processer would only cause some lag. i don't mind lag though.

Sometimes having a slower processor means lag for the game but sometimes it means that a game won't work at all.I reccomend getting the Dell Dimension B120 desktop($299,and they have a 1 GHz processor)and then pick up a GeForce MX 440($20 at Best Buy). But that's only if you can afford it.Halo won't run/look perfect, but it will work good for people with a very tight budget. From what I know, that's the cheapest way to get Halo to run.

i've decided to buy and xbox 1 so i can play halo 1 and 2 and other games like Ghost recon. it'll only cost me around $130 instead of the $350 for the computer you suggested.

well, on the last warning, the checkbox, continue anyways, and continue in safe mode buttons are greyed out. so the program won't let me continue.

Doh! I forgot about an xbox! Great choice! I have an xbox 1 and a xbox 360(but my xbox 1 is not connected to xbox live anymore,my 360 is though)! I'm mainly a console gamer and yet I forgot about my favorite consoles, I'm stupid. Anyway, to have 100% fun with an xbox, get xbox live, after you beat the Halo 2 campaign and have no xbox live, Halo 2 gets really, really, really boring.

the only real problem for me will be getting my dads permission to get an xbox. i plan in getting the nintendo wii and he's not all that happy with that. he thinks one console and one handheld is enough. i'll probably be able to. 1 question though. can i download demos and such on xbox live if i'm using an xbox 1?

Hate to tell ya dude, but that vid card that you're using -- coupled with the other crappy system specs -- won't run Halo PC with any form of good performance. You need at least a GeForce 4 to get anything good from the game, if not higher, and good RAM and CPU speeds.

Still, I know your pain from years past. :) I agree -- an Xbox will give you rock-solid performance and good visuals guaranteed, while only a handful of PC gamers can say the same. Good luck with your dad and the Xbox.

[slo-mo]NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!![/slo-mo]

DO NOT GET THAT CARD! No matter how cheap, do not get that card! I have one of those in my laptop and it was a huge mistake, sure, it can handle loads of AA, but you are trading off pixel shading and most newer games.

If I were to get an Xbox, I would wait for Microsoft to finish the newest version of Xbox 360. Why?
* Xbox is going to be obsolete soon
* Xbox 360 is 4x as powerful as Xbox
* On a tight budget, waiting for the newest version of Xbox will give you plenty of time to save up some money.

Thats what I would do, but I don't know if Microsoft is even making new versions anymore.

You can't download demos of actual games on the xbox 1. You can download xbox arcade demos but no other types of demos. For demos of real games you have to purchase at the store, you must have a 360. But, if you wanr demos of real games for the xbox 1, you'll have to subscribe to xbox magazine or pick up one of their magazines at the newsstand. They have a demo disc that works with 360 and xbox 1 which comes with trailers, demos, and for the 360 owners, dashboard backgrounds, avatars, and a bunch of other goodies. And lucky 4 me, I have a 360 and a subscription to OXM.
