I just find it funny you all say no offense to PS2 fans. This is a Halo/Bungie forum. The chances of finding a PS2 fan on here is slim to nil.
Unless the Halo fans were drawn in by the PC... not the Xbox, like myself. I own a PS2 and an average PC, and I don't regret either purchase. I am, however, looking forward to buying an Xbox before the release of Halo 2 (and I have a feeling a lot of other people are doing the same thing, I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft bundles Halo 2 with an Xbox before Christmas).
I don't know about you guys, but I'm a gamer first and foremost, my allegiance lies to no one but great games, and great game developers. If I could, I'd have bought all 3 consoles and a kickass computer. Each has there own strengths and weaknesses.
PS2 has the backing and the man power to turn out great games, but like was stated, there technology is beginning to look dated, and there online is sorta sketchy.
Xbox has The Man... unfortunately. It is the new guy on the block, they'll need to build a reputation before they can call in the big boys, they got some great tech under the hood, so they seem to be on the right track... sorta, if by "right track" you mean "If you can't beat them, buy them out".
True, Nintendo is known for it's... "kiddie" games, but man are they fun. They are the masters of character design (Think old school Disney and you kinda get the picture)... maybe the words I'm looking for are "masters of franchise design". Ask any Joe-blow to name a videogame character and chances are they'll say "Mario". I have nothing but respect for these guys, my fondest gaming memories come from the SNES.
And the PC... well if you got the cash to shell out, you can get bleeding edge graphics... if you got the cash. I also have very fond memories playing on a PC, if you want a great and varied gaming library, then look into a PC.
But if I had to choose a side... well, I wouldn't, I'd probably give up gaming and go read a book :P (cop out!)
I'll leave you kiddies after seeding this thought in your heads. Don't be so ignorant as to say "X console SUCKS! Y console is the BESTEST ASBESTEST!" because, chances are, there are some great games you've never played because of this narrowminded view. I very much doubt people will heed my advice, but it was a worth a try... *Sigh*
But why listen to me, I own a PS2 and no nothing of videogames...
