If you wish to enter yourself into the 7th Column Halo 2 Tournament, please post in this thread. But first, read on for a brief introduction.
***
First off, the 7th Column is more than just groups. It's the entire community, from brand spanking new member to infamous spamming brat to revered veteran to ninja.
The purpose of this tournament is to attempt to bring the entire column together in doing something. That thing is a Halo 2 tournament with no prizes, just the experience of competing with fellow columners. The only limitation is that participants must have Xbox Live and Halo 2.
Who is allowed to enter this contest? Everyone who's a member of the 7th Column - i.e. everyone who participates in the Bungie.net community. Groups can submit as many teams of up to 3 as they wish to represent them. But, also, players may enter individually, or as teams of up to 3 with a couple of friends. Each group/individual that enters will be randomly matched up with another one/two groups to ideally form teams of 6, who will then partake in the tournament. Yes, this does mean you may be teamed up with people who aren't as able as you. But the purpose of this is not to win but merely to compete and enjoy it.
The tournament structure will be announced once we have received enough entries. Each game will be played within a window of 5 days, and refereed. So, teams, once their opponent is announced, will have a 5 day period of time to organise with the referee and opposition a suitable time to play the game. Basically, it's the entrants' responsibility to ensure the game is played. If one team doesn't turn up and a referee confirms it, they will forfeit the match. If the game isn't played, both teams will forfeit the game. If it isn't a possibility to play during the window, then teams may organise with their referee a better time to play it.
Gametypes will be decided randomly, with some possible structure to be announced in the future.
That's it for the basics. You can ask any questions in a PM.
Moving onto the rules:
* No cheating. No superjumping - it is up to the participants to decide whether they may use BXR/BXB exploits. Both teams must be unanimous, else using them is forbidden.
* Be nice! Try to get on with one another. That's the point of the tournament, after all - if you really can't stand somebody, ignore them. Don't resort to flaming.
* Make sure you attend the games within the time window allowed and at the date & time agreed.
* Respect the referees and make sure you know what you'll be playing beforehand. Don't complain about gametypes.
With all of that covered, I present to you, the signup form (copy and modify as appropriate):
Team Size: 1-3
Bungie.net Usernames & Gamertags: Bnet (XBL)
Group Represented: Group name
Timezones: Bungie time +1
*Please keep timezones in the order you kept the usernames, and have them in relation to Bungie time (GMT -8).
As a footnote, if you want to help out with the organisation in any way, or wish to apply for a refereeing spot, please stop by the group. It's free entry and you're encouraged to stop by and just leave if you so wish.
