What if Halo 3 was made as a co-op game with a single player feature, not the other way around. The idea comes from EA's new game An Army of Two.
You are Master Cheif, of course, but at any time during the game, a person, either on your x-box or on live, can jump in and continue the game as your partner (another Spartan? Or perhaps a Marine). If you don't have anyone to play with, you can just have the computer play as your partner. It would be great because i know people don't always like playing alone, but don't necessarily have anyone to play on the same screen with. Plus, the fact that if your playing a level, and need human help (that's probably better than the AI) you can plug in another controller, and instantly have your friend jump in.
I also think it would be cool to have a permanent split screen, so that even if your partner is over Live, you can still see what he is aiming at, and if he and you both have a headset, you can direct each other as to what to do, or who to shoot.
