Ok...we've all contributed our endless ideas for what we would like to see in Halo 3. But, what do you not want to see in Halo 3. What would disappoint you the most if you found "this'' in Halo 3.
Official Xbox Magazine published an article of what they felt shouldn't be in Halo 3. What do you think of their ideas?
OXM's comments:
The Flood
Seriously, this ubiquitous popcorn-horde of foes could use a break. On our second and third play-throughs of Halo 2, we just ran past them. Unless they have something to offer to the story in a major way (like one of them delivering an introspective moonlit soliloquy on the purpose of humanity), they'd be better-served playing shuffleboard on vacation from the Halo universe for the third chapter.
My Comments:
I personally kind-of agree with this. The Flood horde is a bit played out. I know what your thinking, "The Flood is a huge part of the story, we can't just take them out." Well, they don't have to be taken out of the story, just a reduction in game-play involving The Flood, keep them more of a cinematic feature. One of the things that makes Halo such a great game is getting tactical in battle, something you don't do when battling The Flood, it's just empty out your ammo inventory at first sight.
OXM Comments:
Playable Arbiter
Really, we do have a soft spot for Mr. Arby in Halo 2: his/its role in the game filled a very fleshed-out part of the Halo universe. Our problem was that the game concluded with you in control of him instead of the almighty Senor Chief [Master Chief]. And the Master Cheif is just too cool a dude to take second chair to absolutlely anyone else - even the sword-slinging, exo-skeletal Arby.
My Comments:
I also agree with this. The Arbiter was "ok cool." Again, you're probably thinking, "the Arbiter is too involved in the story to exclude him." Yes, yes that's true, but once again he doesn't need to be excluded from the story; just the game-play, the Arbiter's story can be told through cinematics as well. There was something about playing as MC all the way through the game in Halo: CE. You felt a connection, like you were the one behind the mask. I think that's one of the things we felt amiss moving from Halo: CE to Halo 2. Let's bring that feeling back in Halo 3.
So, I know there has gotta be things that you just couldn't stand to see in the next installment of Halo. What are they? Please reply.
