As far as gore goes, it's unnecessary. If you want some bullet holes or a sword slash on a body, that's one thing. It could add something to the experience, I suppose. As far as using the gore to tell what killed a person, the game'll tell you if someone got sniped, and your buddy could simply say "Hey, watch out! I got killed by a rocket launcher!" You don't need to find a room with a bunch of human-chunks on the walls to know a guy was stuck or something. It's not so much a thing of "Oh, what about the poor little children?!" since I don't think they should be playing the game, anyhow. I mean, if you're gonna let your 8-year-old play Halo, then fine, but don't -blam!- that it's too violent for him. It's not designed for him.

Swearing? All for a little more swearing. On Metropolis it would've been cool to hear one of the Marines riding on my tank saying "Holy -blam!-!" when the wraith fire started falling around us on the bridge. Don't need it to be too much, though, or else it just takes away from the experience. If all you hear is the F-bomb, then it kind of loses its gravity, you know? Example? Sure: "Oh my God! You just got f***ing owned you newbie b*tch f***! F*** F*** F***!!!! I'm allowed to curse while my parents aren't home! F***!!!!"
