...Well I'm glad that worked, because those would have been terrible last words.

Look at it this way... Do you think this game would have been as successful without MC? Seriously...

Yes.

The game may not revolve around MC fully, but he is an important part of the story, which is what a majority of us are interested in.

What distinguishes him in the story though? Plodding dialogue and a drab, lifeless character?

Not that MC had his first crush when he was 8 years old, that he had his first wet dream at 15, that his favorite food is pizza, and that he likes to play volley ball in his spare time...

Stalker.

We all assume the MC is pasty white and possibly a shriveled mess under the armor ... makes you wonder what being in that armor does to a mans bits n kibbles. That's no James Bond.

Oh so thats what your concerned about... You want a character that is really "FULLY" developed. Thats why you cant "LOVE" him... I dont think Bungie developed him for the kind of love you are looking for...

All of the spartans are not created equally, John, Spartan 117, has always taken on a leadership role, and is simply by experience the most skilled overall. Also, regardless of what we know about him or not (which is a lot) he is still the one that knows the most from his relationships with Keyes, Cortana, Sgt. Johnson, Miranda and Hood. Your approach to this argument is pretty silly and you're really looking at one aspect of things. I believe that as it stands, it's the Chief and the Chief alone that is on that forerunner ship and John is the only one that is the Master Chief, not just another spartan. Rather than argue it further, can you imagine throwing a less skilled, uninformed spartan into the Chief's position?

"Hi my name is Will, I heard John died... that's a damn shame... OH! who am I? oh riiiiight, i'm sorry, i'm a supporting character from the novels that a extremely small percentage of the Halo series fan base has ever heard of. So just give me a quick run down on what happened on this "Halo" "High Charity", Earth and various other events and i'll get down to saving the world."

Yes, the game was all about shields and shooting. Plus you are a liar if you say you never played with yourself.

Exactly. Halo gh3y -blam!-. That's what the story needs. Now here's a guy who "gets it".

I can see insight into character and thinking are a real chore for you. I think there is another thread on here where you speculate on what color armor the MC will be wearing...maybe you are better suited for that topic instead, considering your simple mindedness.

Meh ... just call them Spartan 1 and Spartan 2. Hot swap 'em during a cutscene where Spartan 1 dies, Spartan 2 comes in, Growls, and continues the game in EXACTLY the same way you would've played with the MC. Most people just skip the cutscenes (or go grab a sammich) so it really doesn't matter much.

It's true that not all Spartans were created equal. "Master Chief" has his character drawn in 2 Dimensions by an unimaginative Arts degree dropout. I presume that Bungie could afford to fix the mistake now.

Oh! Maybe Spartan 2's HUD will be a different color! Like ORANGE. OMFGLOLLWTF that would be great!

You can't do that, dude. It would ruin continuity.

...and Orange is for [peoplewhoarenewatthegameanddon'tplayverywell].

Does continuity matter at this point? I mean, just look at Johnson (the Sarge)...he died in Halo 1 and he's alive again in Halo 2. Makes no sense.

The "character development" for the Masterchief amounts to tough guy clichés', grunts, cries of pain, and shooting a multitude of weapons at an alien horde. Why would it matter if he was killed off in H3 right at the start? He could be replaced with Spartan Will (my personal preference), Nicole, or BillyBobJoe. It wouldn't make a difference to the game play, and that's what it's all about, right?

I am curious as to how some people can have any kind of emotional attachment to a character that is so poorly developed as a person. In truth, as a Spartan, isn't he less than a person? More of a robotic killing machine made from bone, muscle, and sinew? He doesn't even have a s3x drive for goodness sake?! Spartan Nicole, Will, or Sir Edward Higglesworth III could save the world just as well and provide the same game play experience.

no 117 is the only one. because hes lucky...

Yes he did...I don't expect you to know, though, because you obviously lacked the skills to beat the game in Legendary mode which showed him get exploded.

I'd have to agree. If someone 'splodes ... they're dead.

(except the MC because he can just be replaced by another Spartan with almost no one noticing)

That wasnt part of the story... just a funny cutscene to add to the end of the game. If anyone is that concerned to know HOW he lived you can read the books or read the HGN. Not sure though if your intelligence level is high enough to read a book though....

It was Johnson at the end of the special cutscene of Halo CE, and nobody knows he was picked up cause that part wasnt in the game.

It was a part of the story, but Bungie realized their mistake of killing off the stereotypical token harsh black man with a heart of gold and rectified it with an obviously jumbled storyline of why the Sarge is alive. It's a real testimony to the lack of continuity in the "Halo Bible" or whatever that is called.

And I find it ironic that a home schooled (or in your case, trailer schooled) moron from BFE Oklahoma would have the audacity to insult my intelligence.

Its the case they are arguing though... Not everyone even knows their are books explaining even more. MC is a very colorful character in the books, much more than the game, but no need to kill him off in the game just cause he has no character or emotional attachement to him.
