ANyone that thinks that killing off the Master chief wouldnt make a difference only likes Halo, H2, and H3 becasue they like sootin stuff 2 bits. Halo is more than a game, and the masterchief is deffinatly not plain machine. Hes also not just warrior. In the books, the Chief didn't think that there wasnt anyother outcome besides wwinning and losing until he met Captain Keys. Keys told his the third outcome was PEACE. And even though he does fight, and kill... he does remember all his fellow spartans that have died fighting, and he knows that peasce would be bett3r... so only violevce freaks that like shootin would post a forum that announces that killing off the Chief wouldn't make a difference. Besides, in the books- Cortanna had a choise to which Spartan she wanted to be with- and guess what?!? she picked John, Spartan 117, the mc, so stop playin halo if all u care about it war, and guns. Halo iznt made just for ur pleasure- its made to make a point.

i don't know when the Halo 3 Forum became the Halo Book Club. what a bunch of nerds.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

And the reason they wouldnt kill him off is because of Halo making refferences from the Bible.

The Arc (from the bible): created to save people from the flood that lasted 42 days and 42 nights or something like that.

The Arc (from Halo): Used to stop the flood.

Halo (bible): Around angels head. In a perfect cirlce and floats in the air.

Halo (game): Objects in space. Float in mid-air.

John: Reffered to in the bible and also the main character of the game.

They won't kill him off given those facts and the point that he doesnt die until the end of the last book anyway.

I don't know if you're aware of this, because apparently all you do is read the bible and play halo, but "halo" is a noun that has absolutely no religious connotations out of context. it's any ring suspended around anything. for example- if you break your neck, you get a halo installed until it heals. if your laser eye surgery gets botched, you see halos around things. I suppose you're going to tell me the medical profession is a secret christia cult?

plus, all the bible is is a collection of aesops' fables, greek myths and the code of hammurabi recast with new characters. if halo is derivative of the bible, the bible is derivative of pretty much everything that came before it.

I just read the first two pages of this rubbage, and I offer you eee-diots this: why in the name of heck on a joke encoded popsicle stick does it matter?

MC is Hindu btw, and when he dies, he WILL be reincarnated. He might be reincarnated as a human, or maybe he will be reincarnatd as a freakin sparrow; regadless, he will be one kickarse sparrow with a a three shot kill beak peck, that much is certain, as well as Halo 5-Adventures of Mastercheif the Sparrow for the XBox 5280. It will be a platformer, much like Ratchet and Clank, and it will rock your world.

I haven't read the rest, for this fact alone: my opinion is the only one that matters. Shame on this Wiltron chap for even thinking we should kill him, and shame on the rest of you for feeding this lunacy. I'm going to finish my Easymac now, have a good night.

If he does get killed Chuck Norris could replace him.

I don't think so. Travis Bickle would shave Chucks eyebrows and make him pee his pants before Chuck had his first beer.

It has been said straight from the mouth of The Man (aka Jason "The Dude" Jones), that Halo is a lot deeper than everyone may think and has several biblical references in its' story, but does not mimic its' plot.

However, if you do follow the context that the Master Chief (whose real name is John) is the John from Revelation, that would mean that he is the witness to the end of days. Armageddon. The Last Battle.

It is impossible to ignore the Master Chief's role as the Messiah of the storyline, so that pulls it in another direction. He is the first and (thought to be) the last.

It is absolutely ludicrious to suggest it under this context. I am seriously opposed to the Master Chief dying at all, because the use of the death of the main hero has been rehashed over and over again.

I would rather see Dr. Halsey sacrifice herself to save her children, the Spartans, her possible daughter (Miranda Keyes), and the rest of mankind. She has inner demons and I believe that she is now thinking that the only way to save her soul... is to sacrifice it to save everyone else.

Remember that her philosophy went from "Condemning one to save all" to simply "Saving Everyone, One by One."

I see, so what we're saying is that rather than write their own original story, bungie just ripped one off that already existed, and not only that, but they ripped off one that hundreds of millions of people have already read.... that's really, really deep.

join the navy, then drop a bar soap, then bend over and pick it up, i hope someone R4p3s you when you bend over naked...

Could you leave your sexuaI fantasies outside of this thread, please?

I'm not sure.. but I think maybe... possibly you are confusing the navy with prison.

they both do, anyway back on topic, as i said halo is one fo the biggest games merchanidses if not, the biggest. The master Chief is what makes halo, a storyline following him, kill him off means that will be very emotional and many people have made eulogies if he does. But the point is that spartans are enver meant to die, i dotn want him to die, very little amount fo people dont want him to die. I think many people willa gree with me when i say that he is my hero, he's no superman nor invincible but has the qualities and ethics of a TRUE hero. Strong and robust, determined and tough,HE is the one, the one that made halo halo and not some random fps spewn out by the bungo machine.

they cant get rid of him anyway,
"existing SARTAN11soldiers are recalled to reach for further augmenationthe plan: to board a covanant vessel and learn the location of the covenant home world. two days before the mission begins. covenant forces strike reach and annihilate the colony. the covenant are now on earths doorstep.one ship, the pillar of autumn escapes with THE LAST SPARTAN-11 and makes a blindjump into deep space hopeing to lead the covenant away from earth"
and he does have personality, it kinda ruined it for me when i heard his name was john.

In........................................................Out .

Yeah, same, personally, I won't mind if fred or linda replace him (my fav spartans) but I would be pretty pissed if the MC died, he's cool, besides, without him, Cortana would become an emo, :D

The Master Chief, or John, is a soldier with a mission to stop the Covenant from eliminating humanity. He has his back against the wall, and he is very different than many of the other Spartans. John became the Spartan squad leader, because of his amazing, almost frightening, skills on the battle field. When the Spartan II project started, there were 75 spartans in total, now only 8 are alive, and can actually do anything. John is actually a very unique spartan, and no other spartan could do what he has done. You may not have to able to see his face while he saw Captain Keyes in that Flood cacoon, but you could probably imagine what his face would look like.

P.S.

The M.C. would not be pasty white because he actually takes off his armor once in a while.

Yeah, John-117 is a hero. So have him complete his mission and try to adjust to a life of peace, like Captain Keyes talked about how there was more than "just winning".

Maybe Bungie will make an update containes a terrible flaw and causes you xbox to explode leaving nothing but a black outline where it used to be.

Shhhhhh. That one is still in development.

I hear the best it can manage right now is a small fire. Exploding hardware may sound easy, but they're really hard to code.

Don't click

i agree, and he does have some deveopment. the cut screens. other stuff, he's the most deveoped spartan in the books.

That's because the story is mostly based ON him...thus more detail, which would make you THINK that he's a fully developed character. I point and laugh at you sir. *points and laughs*

The "character development" for the Masterchief amounts to tough guy clichés', grunts, cries of pain, and shooting a multitude of weapons at an alien horde. Why would it matter if he was killed off in H3 right at the start? He could be replaced with Spartan Will (my personal preference), Nicole, or BillyBobJoe. It wouldn't make a difference to the game play, and that's what it's all about, right?

I am curious as to how some people can have any kind of emotional attachment to a character that is so poorly developed as a person. In truth, as a Spartan, isn't he less than a person? More of a robotic killing machine made from bone, muscle, and sinew? He doesn't even have a s3x drive for goodness sake?! Spartan Nicole, Will, or Sir Edward Higglesworth III could save the world just as well and provide the same game play experience.

Wrong.

Oh, yeah, a PR story guy says that the story he is selling is deeper than anyone could guess? Wow, I would have never imagined that. This story is so deep they had to get 2 seperate authors to write the books. It's so deep they killed off the Sarge in the 1st game and magically brought him back to life in the 2nd game. It's so deep that it isn't just a rehashed Marathon story clone. Right?

You guys need to get out more.

Or maybe, he is telling the truth and you are just too blind to see it? And don't tell me that you actually believe the Legendary ending is a piece of canon... apparently you don't understand the meaning of the word "joke".

As for a Marathon clone, you don't really see Cortana trying to escape the end of the universe and become a god. This is the way the world ends... the war between the UNSC/Seperatist Alliance, The Covenant, and the Flood.
