It would fail as an RPG, seeing as every RPG (exaggeration) has an incredibly boring storyline. RPGs are more like interactive movies with about 1000 sub-plots. I know Halo has a lot of cut-scenes; but they are short and precise to the point, with the exception of the cinema on 343 GS. Besides, RPGs are complicated and have too many technicalities to them. A simple formula is the only thing you need: pick two guns, which can be switched at almost any time, and shoot whatever attacks you until it stops moving. And that entire taking turns between attacks really dulls down the excitment of the game. There are no "spur of the moment" attacks or death defying stunts you can perform in an RPG. But in an FPS, the game is more dynamic, making it more thrilling and exciting. You lose the interest of the general public when you pump out an RPG. Truth be told, and no offense to anyone, only nerds play a lot of RPGs.
