I always told myself if I could go back in time I would buy up all the future corporate domain names and then sell them to the companies for top dollar. Image how much cash I could get by selling ww.Microsoft.com to Bill Gates

I would go back to ancient Greece, and give them a modern World History book. I would then come back to our time, and see what would happen to the world if someone knew their future.

I would teach them the atomic theory, and physics, and that unexplainable things usually have an explaination (not just "magic").

I would also teach ancient peoples how to make guns with rifled barrels, self contained bullet cartridges, high explosives, and booby traps.

I would kick Hitler in the nuts. Then I would leave a cd player with Pink Floyd to confuse the hell out of him.

I would also give them automatic weapons.

No, I said that because it would have no use for them. They wouldn't be able to use/understand it, and you'd be stuck in the past.

Well, by those terms, don't bring an invention, bring knowledge. I think actually the most usefull thing would be the techniques to make steel.

The problem is that nearly every modern invention is dependant on others for its continued functioning or repair. Whatever you took back would be an object of wonder while it worked, and then a curiosity afterwards.

"They say that one could once make fire with this, but the magic no longer works." Said about a Bic lighter years after the butane ran out.

I am trying to think of something that you could take back a single example of and it would be reproduceable and maintainable in the ancient world. I am trying, but not thinking of much.

Anyone?

Yep... it's called disease!
