I'm not sure what sticky what taken away this time, but it was probably because the users in the flood couldn't obey the rules for that thread.

The users of the flood cannot contain themselves. They disobey the rules of the forum and sometimes the thread itself. They turn regular threads into a chat thread. dmbfan09 warned the flood before it was locked. They did not listen. There for, it was locked. In other words, think of the flood as mindless zombies that cannot control what they do.

The mugshots was taken down for disobeying the rules. The Frapper map was taken down because no one ever posted in it.

(10:19:49 PM) Scruss: oh and pezza, i saw what you did to that cat
(10:20:17 PM) Pezza: You were the one with the video camera breathing heavily. Of course you saw.

Yeah, the flood are just mindless. Its ust dozens of threads chatting about mostly random (and useless) crap.

Which is why it's fun. I thrive on worthless posts.

Delicious irony or pure genius?

Come on, how can text give you a headache? Unless it's like Chinese or something, of course. But come on, who types in Chinese? Except Chinese people. But still....

How about when people repeat the same topic every two hours. Saying the same thing as the first person. Many things can give you a headache with text.

If you're complaining about the stickies disappearing, which is somewhat the case, remember that this a forum without a real topic of discussion. The threads with some merit are stickied until they become so completely off-topic that no one can remember the original point of the thread. Then they get unstickied, because every thread needs to die, except for the one about the rules and such.

I wouldn't say that anything is inherently wrong with the forum, or that anything has really changed. But there have been an increasing number of threads that are asking virtually the same question, "What is your favorite this?" "What do you think of that?". Again, there is nothing wrong, but perhaps your view of the Flood has changed.

Actually ever since the Halo 3 forum came into existance, the flood has changed itself.

The "Say something nice about a memebr of B.Net" thread was locked by Recon. It was (like the other thread locked by dmbfan) becoming a chatroom, and getting way off-topic. Twelve people I believe in that thread were blacklisted. One of them was our unofficial king who I'm not going to capaitalize or mention. No offence.

Amature Blog.
Irony: (a) The use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.
(b) An expression or utterance marked by a deliberate contrast between apparent and intended meaning.
(c) A literary style employing such contrasts for humorous or rhetorical effect. See Synonyms at wit1.

The flood is a great place to just relax and post. In it you dont need to think (that hard) you can just relax and enjoy the thread without worrying what will happen once you've posted.

Also random comments like *stabs all posters in thread* are commonplace and provide a bit of humor.

However it has of late become rather stupid with people being dumb, hopefully it will clear up soon.

The people need to learn the difference between off-topic, and spam. It is only a few people that disobey the stickies rules in the first place, so when new members come in, they see that this is what everybody else is doing, and join in. I think moderators should not give out warnings when that happens. It is the users duty as a member to know the forum rules, and if they don't listen to those, then I doubt they'll listen to a warning. More clear rules should be put into place.

The Flood tends to be home to newer members that might not know a whole lot about Bungie, so they stick there where they feel comfortable. The mugshots thread was removed due to the fact that it was getting off-topic of mugshots. Also, from what I've noticed, the stickies at the top of the page often are skipped over by members just wanting to read the new posts or creating their own new thread. The Flood also seems as though it can use the most non-sticky forum space that is available.

I really think the problem would be solved if Bungie made a thread specifically for conversation or spam chat.....I know the mods may not like the idea, but it would give the Flood a place to put their spam and personal conversations, without being tempted to ruin another thread.

I hate to say it, but bolth an off topic intelectual and off topic spamish thread might help aliviate things a little.

Encouraging people to spam doesn't sound like the best idea to me. It could work, but people might think it's OK to spam because of that thread.

There could be clear rules against spamming in any other thread than that, it seems spamming is a natural instinct to most Floodians in some instances. The mods could then have full authority and support from us Floodians to Perma ban anyone caught spamming or mindlessly conversing outside that spam thread.....It could just work.

How about rules against spamming altogether? Wait, we already have those. They don't seem to work that great. The mods already have full authority to perma-ban spam makers. The rules pretty much give them that. And seeing as how most new members ignore the stickies, I doubt they'd look. It would be worth a shot to try the spam thread idea, but it is still encouraging people to spam regardless of the rules.

You are right...*sigh* I dont know, but I will admit, there are times in the Flood (mainly late at night) That I feel the need to chat with friends on B.net. Maybe instead of just laying down the law, the mods could try some progressive methods to handle the spamming and conversation problem...not that laying down the law isnt a good decision....

But with hundreds of members joining everyday, it would be too much work. There really isn't much anyone can do...

...Brilliant idea! Achronos should make it so no new members can join! Then we'd all be good!

Also the AR is actually good in CQB now and no longer a glorified baseball bat.

If I am correct, then the thread that was unstickied was the "chat with mayo" thread.

It was locked anyway. I think that it should have the chat stuff put in another post like the flood library or something.
