I would love to see this. This has been posted, but I think by far this is the best bet. Not for Campaign, but for MultiPlayer.
You should definitely have smoke grenades.

Eh, possibly.. They could make games quite hilarious.

"Where'd he go!? *Flag Taken*"

I'd about lose it right there.

Kitty, It wouldn't take any substantial ammount of disc space.. However, it could cause intense framerate issues on Split-screen.

i wouldn't.....halo is supposed to be fast paced and open ended combat, smoke grenades would be useless other than pissing people off

Rather have a red flare grenade for night time games than a smoke.

NO. This is Halo. Halo. The run-'n'-gun game. Without complications that should only be in games like RainBow 6 or something.

Not smoke grenades its halo not ghost recon. However it would be nice if when you get hit by a plasma grenade and you dont die, your motions sensor and hud go out for a number of seconds. And frag grenades should, when detonated, leave smoke for about 3-6 second and then disapate, obsuring vision.

Its not a bad idea.
It would be a needed counter against being spawned killed by the sniper rile in open maps. However, I don;t think that it would cause any lag.
It doesn't lag in BF2 or CoD2.
I just think that 2 grenades are good enough.

You mean like if in Halo 1 you kill an elite, melee it a hundred times so it'll bleed, and move around while looking at the big blood splatter.

I agree, they would be a sweet twist. Why is everyone so against it? One said it would cause lag. How? Did you see the trailer? Something like 12 miles deep of actual game environment and you think a little smoke is gonna lag a game out? Seems the engine and overall system(Xbox 360) are capable of so much more.Yes this is not Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six, it is Halo. You don't want change, but Halo 2 had so much new content. Like dual wielding, which I heard endless banter about before it was ever released. Its in the books. The Spartans had smoke grenades along with their MA5B's. It would be a nice touch.

I vote that they should include Stink Bombs instead.

  • 07.20.2006 5:04 PM PDT

haha stink bombs...... it would be funny seeing an elite in a corner puking his guts out...

Dude I totally agree that smoke would be cool.
But maybe as a side effect from another weapon?

Ex. Warthog Fuel tank is shot, massive amount of smoke occurs.
or maybe if there is a new weapon, make it have the ability to be a smoke dispersing unit when it runs out of ammo.

I don't get all these idiots saying: "Smoke grenades don't belong in Halo! If you want stuff that people actually use in wars, play Battlefield/Ghost Recon/Rainbow Six." I'm not sayin' smoke grenades are a great idea, but please... Battlefield, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six are all on the battlefield. As well as Halo is. Halo is war. In war people use weapons. Including smoke grenades. Maybe if it was in the game in Campaign, an NPC could use it as destraction at some points. Did you ever think that? Point: Smoke grenades belong in war. Halo is war. If you're going to argue don't just tell them to play a different game if they want it. Smoke grenades would belong in Halo just as much as they would in Battlefield, Ghost Recon, and Rainbow Six. That is all.

Maybe ranked games shouldn't have them, but it would be neat if you could turn the option on in custom games.
