I started thinking of one thing i remember from pre-update times that was a nice feature. i also thought of some reasonable things to add to the game that i think would make the game better.
I loved the mid air rocket melee. It was a one hit kill. it made sense; the rocket is a huge and heavy weapon, and the way Cheif swung it would generate a massive hit, especially while coming down from the air. they took it out with the update.
from halo 1, the plasma rifle was good by itself (meaning without melee attack or some other weapon to finish them off). i enjoyed using it. but now it is terrible by itself. the main reason it was good was the stunning effect, which would be unbalanced when dueled with human guns. maybe their could be a two-handed plasma weapon that brought back the stunning effect (maybe to a smaller degree). it added a lot to the strategy.
i would like a larger variety of guns as well... maybe a rifle similar to the battle rifle but single shot but more powerful. maybe a high power needle rifle that shoots out single needles but get there much quicker, don't seek, much more devestating. im just throwing ideas out there. have not put too much thought in to them, but you get my point.
my final suggestion is what i think is the most needed change. the live system was not quite fair. it was great but, the host had too much of an advantage. im not a networking person so i would not have the best or most efficient way to fix this. but i am sure some could. a dedicated server type of thing would greatly reduce the advantage of latency differences and it would eliminate modding and stand-by (as i understand they only work if you have host... but it seems like ive seen some one modding without being host) and bridging. This would likely be fairly expensive for bungie, but something tells me they have plenty of money. either way, the way live was abused made the game not fun for higher ranked people; it was ridiculous how rare games without cheaters were. the latency advantage can be lived with but not the cheating.
