The Covenant doesn't want to destroy Earth, just humanity. So there's a glimmer of hope that humanity does stand a chance. If the Covenant can't risk glassing Earth, then it will all be settled on the ground. And you never know what the Forerunner left on Earth...

very true. here is somethin from the books (it may not be exact) "while they could hold their own in ground engagements they got utter destroyed in space"

The grammar in this thread disgusts me.

The largest known covenant fleet regrouped at high charity and then was led by the prophet of truth to Earth in his forrunner ship.

How r the covies on earth? they came with a tiny fleet, (i think like 15 ships) to Ark earth, but we had 300 MAC guns, thats 10 Mac guns per ship, i think thats plenty to kill off any covie ship. if Halo 3 took place right after Halo 2, where or when did the new giant armada come and take ofer earth.

It is possible that when High Charity left the Threshold system to go to Delta Halo the fleet split up. Maybe Half went to Delta Halo with High Charity and the other Half went to Earth to finish what Regret started. If this is the case I'm guessing that the fleet than went to Earth is probably entirely made up of covenant who are loyal to Truth.

WHY WOULD THE BRUTES WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elites are far more supperior, and smarter and probably alot better at space battles, especialy since the brutes were in small number before the events in halo 2.

believe my i agree with u 110%. however, they do have the backing of the prophets and alot of elites were well kinda assassinated.... now before all the ships came under brute control the fact that the prophets had betrayed the elites was leaked thus the battle began. the reaon the brutes win is due to far superior numbers

But in halo 3 the arbiter will regroup what he has left and hopefully unite with humans to over come.........................................................

And then the obvius ending that bungie will give us is the flood get to big and then mc(and whoever is in the overhead ships) will activate the ark..........(sigh)

Yep, I remember at the end of the level, the one where the Master Chief boards the Forerunner ship at the end, Cortana says something to the effect of if that ship makes it to Earth, Earth doesn't stand a chance.
