the SMG in halo 2 would have to be the worst gun sound affect ever in a FPS, i mean it sounded like firecrackers going off, i dont know whether this was due to the hardware on the xbox, but if bungie has any balls and decide to have a decent sound affect with the gun in halo 3 then it would make alot more people happy, and it would make halo 3 alot better, than a rushed game like halo 2.

Yeah it did, but I kind of liked that sound, and that's what it would sound like in real life. I meen, it's an SMG, the ammoutn of gunpower in each round is not a lot at all, I meen, the thing doesnt shoot friggin .357 Magnum rounds, just 9mm right? So it shouldn't really be loud at all. Plus, they had the SMG sound effect before they started being rushed, NOT ALL OF IT WAS RUSHED. Halo 2 was a great game, and had more features and goodies then Halo 1. Stop -blam!-ing about "bungie sux, they should've made it perfectly" and stop using Microsoft rushing them as a reason why it wasn't perfect, it wouldn't have been much better if they weren't rushed.

Edit: oh, 5mm? That's even more quite, and caseless rounds do use gunpowder, I think it's just a block of gunpower, physically attached to the round itself, so there is not shell ejection.

I thought it sounded good. Remember your using a 5mm caseless rounds. IT doesn't really use gunpowder I think. The sound is accurate. And it's a 5 mm. Like a .22. it shouldn't sound like a freaking 30 caliber.

compared to the SMG our armies have today to the one in halo 2, bungie made a mockery of the gun, at least they made it so you could dual wield the guns

It's friggin 5mm, 5 milimeters, do you know how small that is? Plus, it's not traveling at a very high velocity or speed at all, it's a weak-ass gun, weak guns have weak sounds, it makes sense.

thats pretty weak of bungie to put such a weak gun in the game, they should put something much more powerful and satisfying in the new halo

Picture a futuristic weapon like the SMG in a futuristic set movie. If it's in that kind of movie, it's going be bigger, to have a much more louder and grittier sound with big white muzzle flashes not to mention pure ownage against the baddies.

Now, back to Halo. The real problem with the SMG is that it doesn't behave like a SMG. Most SMGs are still reasonably accurate at medium ranges without that kind of spread whereas Halo 2's SMG is like the Halo 2 Shotgun-you have to be in their face to hurt them. Maybe I'm just exaggerating...

SMG blows bring back a modified version of the assault riffle and the halo 1 pistol

good point, but bungie did really make the human race really weak and ineffiecent, the guns should be much more advanced, compare halo 2 weaponary to today, its a complete laughing stock, hopefully bungie would rectify the mistake in the new halo

did you expect the human race to be using lasers or something i think its fine i doubt our weapons wil ever change from being projectilles but they could have used metal storm wich are guns that dont use gunpowder or moving parts they use electrical pulses to shoot making fire MUCH more rapid without losing accuracy and they dont jam

Well, you have to have atleast 1 crap gun, because that way if you find a good gun, it's more rewarding, and keeps some variety. Although, I have to agree the UNSC does sort of have a crappy variety of firearms, you would think they'd have a crapload of weapons, considering it's the "United National Space Command" Idk, maybe they just standarized everything to keep the price down, and spend more attention on keeping Earth safe, amnd unknown, and on they naval fleet and munitions. In that day in age, the common infantryman isn't very effective, and is basicly insuficient compared to Elites, with plasma technology.

plasma technology in halo is just good for taking sheilds down human weps to health damage and how is more advanced its just superheated plasma that once the core runs down its useless

if bungie were smart they would give the humans weaponry such as the neutron bomb to drop on covenant ground installations, or take the most advanced gun today and put 100 years of development into it

you never no, that would be pretty sweet, flying in a pelican and in order to complete your mission you have to drop a neutron bomb on a enemy camp in order to complete your objectives, and while causing the least destruction.

i thought the smg sounded fine. i think if they changed it in halo 3, it would make past gamers feel less connected to the previous 2. if they changed the sound, they'd have to change the name of the gun and say it is a different model

I like using it since it sounds funny, but the minute I find a BR or anything superior to a SMG, I throw it away (swap)
