Yea, that'd be great. Wait 15 minutes before everytime you play so that Microsoft can scan your HDD.

Not hating. Just pointing out the flaw in that idea.

First off, I'm 99.99~% sure you are not going to get a reply from any Bungie Staff.
Secondly, you can't just speed up that process. The only way to logically speed it up at all would be to do a scan for certain files. Although this would be great, It would require constant updates.

I'll tell you what I'm assuming Bungie will do, being the smartness that they are. Perhaps someone will come enlighten us. (Hint hint, Shishka?) Or perhaps not. Either way, here's my idea of what they're doing:

Halo 2 was not expected to have such an abundant quantity of cheaters, or the ability to cheat would be so simple. (for the most part) When one or two cheaters appeared, I believe they brushed it off, and slowly worked to get rid of them, as would most companies.. Then, they started to increase. This is where Bungie decided they needed to really get cranking on stopping cheaters.

Bungie will most likely implement all the features they have now to stop cheaters, as well as learn from past-experience and tackle cheaters the second they start appearing..

because if seeing is believing,
then believe that we have lost our eyes

i think the main way to stop modders is to have someway to detect people with modded content on their xbox and prevent them from signing into xbox live.

As far as standbyers go, just make it someway to not have host in a game.

i wont even worry about cheater for at least like 6 months to a year just liek halo2. Everybody will be too busy having fun, discovering glitches, and playing the campaign finding out the final part in the epic story.

Do I need to explain it again? To detect mods before you sign in, a scan of your HDD would most likely have to take place. If you've ever done a virus scan on your computer, you'll realize how much time that would take.

In other words, I think searching for modded content prior to signing in is not a plausible idea.

They already check your account for modded files when you sign in.. It takes roughly 6 hours to ban someone who is using modified content. And that's all in the background.

And you may find that Bungie has done something that none of the standbyers expected.. You know, you sound a lot like your encouraging, condoning, or trying to justify cheating.. "Oh, they won't stop it, so why try?"

.. Hmm..

To all these people who come out with comments like "well, it's only after 37 that the cheating gets bad" or "you can easily get a 37 legit" etc:

NOT ON THE PLANET I INHABIT.

Look, either I must be getting some weird sunspot activity around here or, well, I'm not going to spell it out.

I've said it so many times now I feel like a broken record: it is not just about making a great game with Halo 3. It is about making sure, as best you can, that people can actually play the thing fairly.

Halo 2 is now...erm....well it's nice in custom games :-D

Shame....considering it's so awesome (and I mean that)

You might not have to worry about alot of modders for Halo 3 just because its almost impossible to mod up a Xbox 360. Yes people have been trying to mod the Xbox 360 before but the mods did not work right on the Xbox 360. Microsoft did alot to make it harder to mod. Which I am really happy about it!

Yeah. I heard something that's really stopping is this huge glob of glue is kepping them from modding too easily.

I was just wondering if those smart people over at Bungie will figure out a way to make it impossible to cheat in Halo 3. Cause right now Im pissed at Halo 2 because I got modded and standbied on 6 times in a row causing me to lose my 32, which I just got. It feels like to me, that you cant go pass a 32 without getting cheated on. So if anyone has any thoughts on whether it will be possible or not to cheat in Halo 3 I would appreciate it. But I would really like to hear from some one who works with Bungie to hear what they have to say.

I hope everybody knows that Bungie has been working on Halo 3 for over 2 years now, they had work on it when they released Halo 2 even, and it still wont be out for at least 4-5 more months. Im sure thats enough time to make sure they test every nook and cranny of the game, they already have things now to make sure are not in the game ie: superjumps, autoaim, host advantage, ect. Now modding and standby are a different story, as I don't know if you can mod a 360 or use standby, so heres hoping thats gone.
If worse comes to worse you can leave negitive feedback as it will lower the chances of playing said cheater again. As for lossing your rank, don't sweat it just play more and get it back, if your good enough then you don't need a rank to show your good, just beat the pants off anyone in your way.

There will always be a form of cheating, and definately for popular games like Halo 2. Halo 3 will still have cheaters, but they will work their best to decrease the amount of cheaters in the game.

I believe Bungie has host in H3, you need host to cheat, so you cant cheat. Im not sure though. And you can get past 32, if youre lucky.

heres one way, microsoft can include a small amount of c4 in the 360's and when someone is found guilty of cheating their 360 explodes...

but seriously what they can do to really slow down cheating:
STOP GIVING FREE TRIALS!

seriously why do u think so many people cheat with out caring if the get banned and wasting their $ 50? because they got a free trial! eliminate free trials and people will have to BUY a new account every time they get banned

i dune agree with this see i dont work to get a rank because it shows how good i am. i work to get a rank because its a goal to work for. now when i get cheated out of my goal it pisses me off.

You want it impossible to cheat? Okay *Cuts multiplayer out of Halo 3* There yeah go, have a nice day. :)

But no really, I'm sure there is a way, it would just require A LOT of testing, and I'm sure a good amount of stuff would have to be taken out.
Nope. Campaign is still there for us modders to hack to hell. And no, I don't cheat online. I don't even have LIVE.

I dont care if modders cheat in campaign. They are just ruining the game for themselves
