Okay, Exception data is the main reason I signed up for this site because I can't even play for 10 minutes without it occuring in multiplayer, and only 2 minutes on campaign in halo. I have searched the web for solutions many times.

- I have reinstalled halo, but I still receive the annoying pest.
- I have updated, which I read on another forum for that being a cure.
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled again.

The only thing I haven't done about it is changing the sound and video card, because on a seperate thread I read you might need to do that to work properly... I have a sucky sound card so is that it?

All I know is that it's really annoying and I just want to play halo in peace! So please help me if you have had it... And please fill this poll out as well.

I also am new here, so I'm not sure of some thing yet.

You should update the drivers for your processor, and more importantly, the Graphics Card you have.

Just go to the website of the company that manufactures your Graphics Card, find your product, and download the driver update they have avalible.

GED errors are pretty common among HPC players, and are caused by an incomplete or improperly loaded map, as well as due to incompatibility between Halo and your Graphics Processor.

Halo PC and Halo CE games are remarkably stable and when people get exceptions it is usually something to do with their particular configuration. This guide, while written for Halo CE will give you some basic trouble shooting tips that apply to all versions of Halo on the PC.

Troubleshooting Gathering Exception errors
http://www.halomaps.org/index.cfm?nid=387

The thing that is most often the issue is some other program you are running while playing Halo:

Other Programs Interfering:
Some programs can cause Halo to crash if you run them at the same time. Some versions of Xfire with certain video cards are known to cause Halo CE to crash and generate a "Gathering Exception" error. Before starting Halo CE turn off all other programs; Turn off your MP3 player, Turn off Xfire, Turn off your Instant messenger (AIM, AOL, MSN, Yahoo). Turn off all programs not absolutely needed to run the operating system.

I'm a modder, but when exception occurs that generally means that one of your .maps is screwed up. But I guess that doesn't apply in your case.

And yes, a dxdiag would be helpful.

Oh sorry didn't see your "what?"

Ok, restart, and immediately upon restart, go to start->run, and type in dxdiag. Then once it's done, save all to a text file and paste here.

I read that and I really don't have any of the things needed to turn off.

All my anti-virus software is current. So is my spyware.

I have enough space in my hard drive for it, plenty.

My video card and sound card I have no clue so that might be it. But, thanks.

Right. And like I said, if all this is the case, you probably need to simply update the drivers for your GPU and stuff.

I only get exceptions in Halo CE when I do horrible things to my maps that Halo was never meant to do :).

And is there any debug log for the exceptions?
