Please read before voting. I'm not calling the sword "cheap." I'm not calling it "unbalanced." However, I would like an opinion from everyone on this matter.

The sword is a great weapon. Fantastic for close-range use. As for the ability to take it out and kill someone instantly, I find it lacks sensibility. I'm sure you've all been running at a guy holding a battle rifle, not knowing he's holding the sword. He'll switch weapons and lunge at you semi-instantly, as if he lunged with his battle rifle.

The Idea
My idea, is that the Sword in Halo 3, considering it exists, should have to be fully out (with the blade turned on) before having any sort of ability to attack or lunge. The sword would have a longer "Taking out" time. This would also drastically decrease the ability to do any sort of "Reticle Lunge", such as using the rocket launcher. (I have had someone use their Battle Rifle reticle to lunge 30+ feet with the sword.)

Please, give your thoughtful opinion, if you have one. If you don't have any sort of opinion worth stating, then don't. Be nice, don't flame eachother, or myself.

You would think the morons at bungie would have figured this one out for themselves when they made that piece of crap in the first place, but no. They must have thought the weapon was weak so they gave it infinite energy, the ability to lunge from an incredible distance, the ability to allow you to defy gravity while falling off the map and lunging back up, the ability to spin in a circle while mashing the trigger in order to kill everyone in the area. They all need to be kicked because the piece of crap will only be worse in halo 3, for some reason they will still think it is under powered, good job bungie kudos.

Huh? I stopped listening after this little piece here. Grow up.

you all just suck

I never said the sword was cheap or unbalanced. I actually said quite the contrary. I think the sword is a great weapon, with a tiny flaw that has bothered me a tiny bit. I'm merely commenting on the fact the other weapons don't let you fire before it's fully out, so why should the sword let you lunge? (Of course, guns do allow one to melee when switched right away) I believe the sword lunge should be more of a "projectile" than a "melee". (However that works..)

I believe: Please, give your thoughtful opinion, if you have one. If you don't have any sort of opinion worth stating, then don't. Be nice, don't flame eachother, or myself. includes not telling people they "suck".

It's a reasonable idea. It always seems un-Halo-like when skilled players are playing competitively and there's always 1 player running around with 5 - 10+ kills over everyone strictly because they're using the sword.

do me a favor, hold your head under water untill you start to see black spots. the sword is the way it is for a reason. there would be no point whatsoever to have it in the game if it wasn't for the lunge. without the lunge it is and essentially useless weapon because you will get gunned down before you get into range. the energy setting is the way is because the sword never respawns untill in is uncontrolled for a long period of time. while other weapons reload at set intervals to provide ammo and replacements. stop being an idiot and learn how to deal with it.

to the poster, not a bad idea about having to wait untill the sword is "pulled out" before you can use it. that is actually the best and most practical suggestion ever made for the sword.

but that's just it isn't it. the skill behind the sword has nothing to do with using it. is has all to do with how to counter it. it is very possible to side-step the lunge and even kill the sword user mid-lunge. and use your judgement, if some dude is just running at you peppering you with and smg, chances are he's about to whip the sword and finish the job.

personally i think the sword is just fine the way it is. i've never come across one of those "unbeatable halo sword gods" that i keep hearing about. anyone can be takin out. sword or no sword. if its a small map, it might take a little team work. but none the less, he can still be killed.

my two cents.

The Sword is no match when a rocket to the face is involved.

Thanks for seeing my point..

As for the others: This wasn't supposed to be a discussion of whether or not you like the sword, or think it's "cheap". Read posts more thoroughly and don't get so off-topic.
