Heh, I made a thread like this, or somewhat, also.
I think that the fact that a map should be based simply off of a gametype would not be Halo. All of Halo's maps are unique in their own way, they all have a purpose, possibly their own backstory.
So a map that would simply be a lake, with two bases at the other end wouldn't fit the style.
However....the idea itself is good.
But my thread was actually just about the lack of water based maps or lack of water at all. I want to see a map that would be involved with running through water, be an underwater structure, or possibly a mix.
Almost Bio Shock, a structure that is leaking, underwater.
It would be cool. But to take it so simply? Nah, think of Headlong, that's a good example, there are pretty much 2 bases, but it's more complicated.
