good theory, and makes sense, kinda of that he did it, and all the forerunner BUT him died when they activated the halo's because He let himself be taken by them.

That makes no sense. If this character was taken by the Flood then activating Halo would not kill him. Halo kills the Flood's food not the Flood. The Flood seem able to survive ages without food.

if the flood can survive ages w/o food, then how comethere aren't any flood on any of the planets... wouldn't they have been able to survive there as well as on the halos?

Here are my two cents:

Gravemind is not the creator of the flood, the Forerunner are. They created the flood to help them conqeur the universe. They experimented on the gravemind to create the flood. Gravemind was an ally of the forerunners until they imprisoned him. Why did they imprison him? They discovered that the Flood had a colletive consciousness and Gravemind could control them. The Forerunner feared that Gravemind and the flood were a threat to their rule of the galaxy and therefore built the Halo's to stop the spread of the Flood. When the Halos were activated they opened up a rip in space to allow the Forerunners to escape the cleansing of the Flood. This is what the Covenant have come to understand as the 'Great Journey'.

I think we've been all mislead. The covenant aren't the bad guys, the Forerunners are. They will be back to reclaim the universe and all heck is gonna break loose in Halo 3.

Just my thoughts....

I agree, Halo 3 will rock. As bungie has stated, 'This will be the conclusion of the current story Arc', but it's gonna end with another cliffhanger, the Halo franchise is to lucrative to just end.
