Should the ranks be hidden? Call of Duty to has ranked matches, but no one ever knows their rank.

I have an idea for Halo 3.

Continue having ranked matchmaking and unranked matchmaking.

In ranked games, only one player can play, no guests. You will have a rank, but you can only see it if you log in on the bungie website to check your stats. you will never see a visible rank in the actual lobby of the game. I think this will greatly reduce the factor of cheating.

There will still be people who cheat for the sake of cheating, but the rank hungry people will pretty much have no point to cheating to rank up.

Again. Unranked matches will allow guests, ranked matches will not. The ranks in ranked matches will simply be turned off. The only way to check your rank would be to go online and goto your stats page.

All ranks do is add hostility between players. Maybe a military rank system would be better. Instead of being a higher level, you are a superior officer. Of course, there would have to be a certian amount of skill to achieve it. And you shouldnt ever lose levels, only gain them.

Personally, i think losing a level defeats the purpose of achieveing it. I think Bungie should make only improving levels. This will generate a much more positive look on the game. Also, it should either be military ranks like i said, or out of 100. Then you would porgress at nearly the same speed, but it would take longer to get a level the higher you went. it would just be better.

Exactly why i said make the levels progress slower, but make it go up to 100.

Think of it this way. This is how the levels will increase in difficulty, each level will have an increasing number of experience points to achieve as you progress. For every game you start, you get a small amount, you get more stats for completing the games objective effectively (so you wont be really rewarded when you just sit and kill the other team in a CTF game when your not defending, or arent killing a flag carrier). Anyways, these points add up and give you exp, which in turn gives you a higher rank.

You cant lose experience, so why lose your level from just 1 game? Or becuase of some bad luck?

this is just the battlefield 2 mode for rank and while its a good system it wouldnt work in halo the games are too different. plus the rank not going down defeats the purpose of the ranks - theyre suposed to match you to players of similar skill

i didnt say i wanted hidden ranks, shown ranks are a part of what made halo good, it gives you something to aim for
