Mendicant Bias: Someone set us up the Halo. We get signal.
Gravemind: What?!
Medicant Bias: Main screen turn on.
Gravemind: It's you!
Offensive Bias: How are you, Enemy? All your base are belong to Forerunner. You are on the way to destruction.
Gravemind: What you say?!
Offensive Bias: You have no chance to survive, make your time. Ha ha ha.

Looking at the excavtion site where the Covenant was surrounding the supposed Ark, I was wondering, this would've taken years to uncover. Even with explosives.
So how far into the future is the trailer? Plus, with an object that big, don't you think we would've detected something there?

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

Well, remember, it took only hours or days at the most to completely remove a giant mountain on Reach (Mt Mechanite, I think it was). To dig a hole like that, it might not be so be so daunting.

Personally, I am in support of the Scarabs being excavation equipment. It makes sence from my point of view; the Scarab was described in the novel Halo: First Strike almost to the letter as excavation machines and they were used to dig down into the ancient tombs under the mountain.

I think they were also used on planet Coral (in conversations of the universe we hear about a structure similar to the Ark under planet Corol and the next book is based upon the planet) and on Earth (which would explain their presence and the excavation of the Ark).

Just rampant speculation with a bit of logic for a change.

What Pezza means to say is, Scarabs would be used on Coral, if the Covenant were the ones excavating. As we know though, humans are in fact excavating the large "Metallic Crystal" which seems large enough to be a structure of some sort.

I don't edit my posts, that would decrease their value. But yeh, thanks for picking up on that and making me redundant, Truth :)

Well, you know what I mean about the theory, it all fits, I'm sure the Covenant would use the same methon on Corol and maybe even on Harvest (we know little of it).

Okay, so they leveled a small mountain in a few hours. The excavation site of the supposed Ark is much larger. The thing is 35 miles in diameter, and looks a few miles deep. Plus, they're digging through rock thats under pressure. Even with a fleet of Scarabs it would take months. Plus, wouldn't the plasma just turn the surface into molten rock? Perhaps the humans excavated there first, and then the covenant took it over in a gigantic battle? Who knows

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

In Halo 2, what was the most likely object that the Covenant Cruiser with the Prophet in it likely to be floating over?
What was the result when that covenant ship jumped to hyperspace in the planets atmosphere? One heck of a blast.
End.
