An interesting bit of info that I thought might be worth noting - remember that this could be in reference to further comic books, another halo (universe) game entirely, or... Halo 3...

...and perhaps something else completely.

One thing Bungie Content Director Frank O'Connor said, stuck with us after the announcement. During the panel, O'Connor mentioned that Spartan II's are never declared dead, but always listed as MIA. And that, yes, at some point, the idea of other Spartan's in the Halo Universe aside from Master Chief will, indeed, be addressed.

Remember this also - the Spartans have already been addressed - as it were - within the Halo universe (in the novels of course), so for Frankie to suggest that it hasn't already happened, leads me to believe that he is talking about something more... interactive :)

Yes. Well done. Now read the article at IGN, and understand that Frankie said this in 'present' context, meaning that he feels that they haven't been properly 'addressed' yet.

Those without swords can still die upon them.

I think he means revealing what happened to the surviving Spartans, like Kelly, Fred, and co. I seriously doubt they'll be in Halo 3 though, because not everyone has read the books and frankly having them in there would detract from the feeling you get from being the last of your kind. They'll probably wrap up the multiple Spartan arc in another novel or in that monthly comic they announced.

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

I was thinking he was using this a failsafe for the "End of this story arc" comment. This way if the next game or even book is about another part of the Spartan II program, he will look like a smarty pants.

No inside information here, just another fellow fan with his own theories.

You think that he might have been referring to the film that is in pre-production?

Firstly, I never said I had inside iinformation, just something interesting said at a convention. The title may embelish slightly, but then with so many threads on these forums, you've got to do a little advertising :)

Secondly... sure, I think it's possible he might be talking about the film, but if the movie is to be a visual representation of the first game, where will the spartans appear?

My best guess is in a prologue sequence, much like the one at the start of Fellowship of the Ring.

Still, who knows..

My apologies, I obviously wasn't clear.

I wasn't accusing you of attempting to use or claim to have inside information.

I was making a disclaimer that I didn't have any inside information. Many times people see the white text, or the avatar, and they assume that we either work for Bungie or that we have all of the inside "scoop".

I was making that statement so no one gave my statement any more weight than it deserved. I am just a fellow fan, nothing more, nothing less.

No apology needed :) having read your post again, you were very clear - I simply read it wrong!

So, anyway, do you think he's referencing the film? I mean, as I said, I can only see it being as a prologue, but it would be a pretty cool way to introduce the Chief. Not only would it be a nod to fans and a great opportunity for an action packed intro, but it would also reveal the isolation and importance of MC and his mission.

You two are cute together.

that which is not dead can eternal lie, but with strange aeons even death may die.

Well, considering the fact that this is the last end of "this story Arc" of halo, Frankie could maybe mean that in the "next story Arc" they will use another spartan, or something totally different. like the Story of the Foreruner VS the Flood as a game, But I am interested in this Spartan Speculation.

Then of course remember spartan 062, in the HGN, which is greatly tide into the Game story more than the novels, so he could be referencing to her.
